You know what Rileygirl. If you have that many points---why not !? What is more important is the fun times and the memories he'll have with his children ! The family has suffered a tragic loss. Maybe sharing such special family times together will help with the healing process. I know we "blew" some points a couple times. But one trip we took our mil who was ill with cancer. She was well enough to travel, but we knew it would be her last vacation (and it was). And we treasure those memories forever even though it wasn't the best value for points. So tell your friend to GO FOR IT and have a blast !
You know what, you are right on that point! Might as well use them, even if its not best way to squeeze value out of the points! I am glad he got three contracts because it does give him flexibility to sell.
And, I should say, I dont mean to come across hard on the guide who sold him the points. Honestly, the tour pulls any Disney fans heartstrings, under his circumstances it would be twice as much. For all I know, the guide could have talked him out of getting 1000 pts, and 'settle' for 540!
He came over with the girls last night, and we had a big discussion on what to do. I pointed some possibilities for him. (Denise, I did mention the grand villa at SSR and the grandparents, that was such a good idea). We discussed the pitfalls of renting and the posibilities.
I think he is going to try and use the SSR pts rather then sell them. The first thing he is going to look at is some II exchanges. I dont know how possible it will be for him - would he get a hotel in the Carribbean this winter I wonder? He can be flexible with dates, it does not have to be school holidays. (Kids are younger- and - uhm- priorities have changed in the last year and a half). So anything in Jan, Feb or March, anywhere in the Carribbean,, do you think he has a shot?
Anyways, thanks again for everyones help - very much appreciated!
