pronounced

jiyro or Yearo

to confusing

I always thought it was pronounced HERO. Guess I was really off!

jiyro. I just googled yee-ro and I've never heard it pronounced like that before even though it's the correct way! Interesting.

This brings up a good question -- Is there any place around WDW that sells Gyros that are really, really good??

From a first generation immigrant from Greece friend of mine...It is pronounced 'youro'.

The g is silent and the r is rolled.

I'm not greek but it makes my skin crawls when I hear it pronounced as a (Jirow).

I know most people just don't know how it is pronounced, but when told they just don't even try. Everything in this country has to be Americanized, it seems.

Cat Cora has a new Greek restaurant on the Boardwalk called Kouzzina. Not sure if they have gyros though.

BTW, I say "youro". I hate pronouncing things wrong, so I always make a point to find out how to say things the correct way.
