GV Waiting List

I'm a New DVC Member. I booked for mid July at OKW (Home Resort is BCV) and was only able to get a two bedroom. I booked in Feb so I got a late start, but w/ 7 adults in the party it was hard to coordinate calendars.

Anyway, I have three questions?

1. I'm on the waiting list for a GV, what are my chances of getting
it? (Keep in mind, I REALLY think we need the space ~ Very
disappointed that my first trip home could not be booked in a
GV from the start)
2. When I booked I only had 6 in my party confirmed and on my
reservation, now I have a 7th adult, do I need to notify MS?
3. How does the waitlist work, now that my party is so large do
have a better chance at getting the GV? Am I at the bottom
since OKW is not my home resort?

Help from Veterans would be greatly appreciated!

I would not hold out much of a chance to get the GV. You will be treated the same regardless of how many guests you have. You do not have to call MS about the 7th guest. The only answer I have long term for anyone for this situation is to buy where you want to stay that way you in the future would be able to get GV at 11 months out at the resort you want to stay at.

I use the waitlist all the time with very good results for one or two bedrooms. (Always successful) but with that being said, I need one more night for next week for a one bedroom at OKW!! Still hopeful. Now for GV's we once added a day here or there with success in the off season, but already had the majority of the week booked. The only time thus far the waitlist never came through was last Thanksgiving when we tried to extend our trip in our GV about 10 months out. Good Luck, and you just never know. Once I got a GV the day before at BWV and last week they had one available for week after Easter for this year due to last minute cancellation!!!

Have you considered adding a separate studio to your reserevation? It sounds like you have points to spare--so maybe you should consider an additional room.

I can only benefit from the experiences of others, but I think it's really a longshot at this point. It would require not only someone cancelling a GV reservation, but also for that reservation to encompass ALL of the days of your stay. For example, if you are planning a Sunday to Saturday stay, and someone cancels a ressie that runs from Tuesday to Saturday of the same week, there still may not be any availability on the Sunday and Monday nights of your trip. Thus your waitlist would not come through.

And, you can't think that they would hold those partial days open for you in hopes of the rest coming available. If someone else is waitlisted for Tuesday to Thursday of the same week, they would immediately get those days.

Good luck.
