We have a brief 2 night stay at WDW next March before a cruise - likely will be either a non-park visit or just MK. I currently have a GV booked at BWV but am thinking of switching to a cabin at CC if it's still open at 7 mos. It will be me & my son (7) and my friend and her two kids (5 & 7).

I've always wanted to try a GV at BWV but think there might be more non-park things to do at CC/WL. Another option would be to cancel a short trip 4 day trip we are planning in December and use all our points to book a poly bungalow - but that many points for just 2 nights (320) hurts! Plus we just got an AP so it seems like a waste not to go a couple more times this year. Advice? TIA!

As far as non park things to do, it is hard to beat nightly activities at the Boardwalk.

However, I was able to book a 2 night stay in a CC cabin for December and we all are looking forward to staying in one. I would either stay with what you have, or try to switch to a cabin, and forget about paying so much for a Poly bungalow.

With the ages of your kids I'd try for the CC cabin. The poly bungalows are just too expensive and I see no draw to sitting out over a mosquito infested swamp (just my feeling). If you end up at CC take the boat to FW to see the horses, use the playground or eat at the buffet.

If you don't think you will do a park, you might look at a GV at SSR, you have the entire Disney Springs for entertainment.

Having stayed in a Poly Bungalow, mosquitos were not a problem. It did not feel like a swamp, it was incredible. Everyone loved it. Coolest place you can possibly stay on property. Ever. Watching Happily Ever After and the Water Pageant from your private porch with unobstructed view is awesome. So if you want the wow-factor, this wins hands down. Boat / Monorail to the MK for a day and otherwise enjoy the Bungalow.

BWV is of course unparalleled for activities along the Boardwalk. You can't go wrong here, and the GV is on your bucket list. I wouldn't personally do a GV with only 5 people. It's not necessary as a 2B easily accommodates the group you have going. So if staying at the BWV I would do a 2B and save the points for a Bungalow next trip. Also EC/HS are not in your plans so I don't see a point to staying here over an MK resort.

The Cabin is also by the MK and has the cool pool so if the MK/Pool is what you want to do then it's perfect. Personally I think that 5- 7- and 7- year old kids would get more value out of the Bungalow or Cabin being closer to the MK which is your focus anyways. So I would switch. Bungalow / Cabin is just right for your size family, BWV GV is going to be a lot of empty space.

Another vote for the CC cabin. I toured one less than two weeks ago. Disney employees and their families were being allowed to spend a night or two in the cabins and new rooms in the main Lodge. We happened upon a family checking in, and they invited us to take a look. The cabins are very nice. The sleeping arrangement is 2 in the MBR, 3 in the 2nd BR (there is a pull-down bed), and 3 in the living area (couch and chair). It's very open and airy, and the screen patio looks over the lake. There is a picnic area on that patio, as well as plunge hot tub which the kids would enjoy (it's fenced so you won't have to worry over the littlest ones). As others have noted, if you're interested in mostly pool or play activities and MK, then it would be very suitable and far less points than a Poly bungalow.

That's a lot of points for 5 people.... personally a 2bd might be better imo. Save the points for a time when you have more people ;).

Otherwise, if you have the points to blow, then CC cabin might be a better draw for little kids (plus MK access).
