...to get Disney Springs ready for me.

Is it just me or are there others out there who cannot believe the lack of progress at Disney Springs. I purposely skipped our annual visit last year because of all the fences at Disney Springs. So, I have been watching youtube and all the videos showing what's going on. For the last few months, I see the same buildings looking just as unfinished as they did in November. I see 1 construction guy here, walking in slow motion; I see 3 over here, again, slow motion.
I wanna go down :moped:there and make some steam under their butts. I am frustrated.

Once the shell of a building is up, 95% of the work is inside. It can seem like they are doing nothing for months, then suddenly, in two weeks' time, facade details are finished up, landscaping is put in and voila.

They're opening a bunch of new shops here soon, along with more restaurants. It'll be what it'll be when you go in November.

I think by November you will see more progress. We are here now and we're there in Oct 2015 and haven't seen too many new things completed...but there is construction. We were hoping the new parking garage would progress. Spoke to one of the construction workers and he just shrugged and said "maybe this year".

I know the feeling.
Right now at home, they are building a new Walgreens.
I sit parked at the CVS across the street and just watch them slowly putting the place together.
It's agony waiting.
Sure, I could go to the Walgreens up the road (I can see it from here) but, it's not the same as
shopping at a brand new one.
I remember last month when they opened the one two miles from my house, how much time I spent there just soaking in the atmosphere!
Even though it looks like on Google maps that there are 27 other Walgreens within "13.4 miles of my location,"
I WANT this NEW ONE TO BE DONE!
Is that too much to ask?

True too.

Seeeeee, it's slow
Do you go to the parks as well during your annual visits or just Disney Springs?
Yes of course, we go for 10 nights, but we go to Disney Springs every night after dinner for drinks, or to have dinner.

So you skipped your entire Disney vacation because Disney Springs wasn't ready or just your trip down to Disney Springs while at Walt Disney World? I can't imagine skipping my entire vacation because of the mess at Disney Springs?

That's what I was wondering. That's why I asked if op also did the parks.

I am not sure what this means. A LOT has been completed at Disney Springs. apparently the issue is that they haven't finished all of it at once. There are a lot of places to go visit a restaurant and have a drink right now, and lots more will open within the next couple of months, even though the entire project isn't completed.

I think it is looking great. Has come along way since I was here last year

I have worked in commercial construction for 30 plus years and I always hear this from people who have no clue about what goes on when you put up these types of establishments that are simular to those going up in Disney Springs. Many time I hear comments such as "it only took so long to build my house" or the like. Well after the outside walls go up there's a lot more that has to be done inside and it all takes time to do. It's not the instant work done you see on the home improvement shows. Lighting, power, HVAC, plumbing, data and other sysytems have to be roughed in, wires pulled, piping installed. The you have to coordinate flooring, wall coverings, finish work, fire sysyems and much more. And it all takes time!!!!
For example to lay down tile floors you have to section off the floor area, then clean it up, scub it down, grind it, then chemically prepare it, then put adhesive down and install the tiles. Then wait til it's cured. I always fell sorry for the floor installeres
To install the lights you have have the power panels installed, then install condiut which has to be instaled above ceiling tiles, ran fron a different room . This includes installing all the needed hardware for supports. You have to go up and down ladders (or if you are lucky enough to have a lift), measure the conduit, bend it, cut to fit, install the supports and move on to the next section. When you finally get that run done you get to do it over again for the next area of the room. Anf figure about an average time to install a 10 ft length is about 10 minutes. Next time you are in a commercial building look up at the lights and try to figure out how many feet are between lights, how many lights are up there, how were they able to support every thing so the inspectors will pass it. Then just for the lights you need to install the wires, install the lights, connect all the lights up and then the switches
You need to get a reality check on what really goes on in construction

Actually, they only have until July because that's when I'll be there.

I feel this way about the Wilderness Lodge! ENough with the construction, already! Stop screwing around and get to work! LOL

Do you know that in all our trips to WDW, we have not been to Disney Springs/Downtown Disney? We are going this December, and I think we are going to have to check it out!

I've been to Downtown Disney / Springs the last four years and have seen it in various states of construction. It was a massive project, complete with demolition, new construction, and so forth...all while keeping existing establishments open and pathways and common areas safe during construction.

Progress may seem slow, but a lot has been accomplished over the last few years. New parking garage, new restaurants, the Marketplace Co-Op (which sells unique, and my favorite, Disney souvenirs).

I know people don't want to look at fencing, etc., but that's really a sorry/not-sorry situation. Sometimes new things mean temporary blemishes.

1 please do not go to the parks as I am scared all the new construction might be too much for you.

out of all the times I have been to disney ( even last year at 50) I have never been to disney springs / DTD unless you want to count the time I was like 3 or 4

After our January visit to Downtown Disney (Disney Springs is a joke of a name) we decided not to go back until all of the walls which create choke points for traffic are down. The mass of humanity at night is absurd, and the choke points make the experience even worse. When we go in April, our plan is to drive off-site to eat instead of eating here. Maybe it will be complete to my satisfaction by the time we come back in January. I really hope so.
