Guy who hates kids is back from Disney

You definitely made many valid observations. Even the top row of Soarin' gets to me, because I can see the edges.

I agree about the 3D shows. The last time I went to Disney World I only saw Philharmagic and the Muppets. The other two are just annoying. Philharmagic is definitely the best, and the Muppets I just do, because its the Muppets. I'm hoping now that Disney has the rights to the Muppets that they'll infuse them more into their parks. While my family was seeing the Honey, I shrunk the audience show last July, my DH and I took our nephew to meet Belle, then sat with him while he napped. They spent a long time waiting in line, the ride was down, and they gave them FastPasses instead.

they now have a muppets pre-parade..so yes they are being brought back to life

I think it is rude to ask to ask for the first row. It is obviously a much better experience than sitting in the back row, and those who don't know better will get shafted every time. It seems that the people who "are in the know" tend to be repeat riders. I feel sorry for that foreign family who saved for months to go to Disney and their one lifetime riding experience will be subpar because they aren't locals or don't have the time to engage in extensive Disney preplanning. Unless you have a valid health concern, I don't think it is fair to ask for special seating, but that is just my opinion.

Do you think people using FPs are rude too...same principle...and alot of people are not aware of it

How funny you are. My husband and I love Disney; but I too, am not very "kid friendly". One time I was on a line to get a picture with the Mouse and some woman came up to me with her kid and said, can my daughter get in front of you? I said no, she said but you dont have a child with you. I told her I realize that; but I dont need one to take a picture with Mickey. She said, well the line is very long and it would not be fair if her daughter missed out. I told her she would have to take her chances because I did not care if her daughter missed out. I got on line early so I didnt miss out. She called me a name and left.

Why do parents think adults without children are supposed to compromise for someone else's kid?

You should try being solo. I make several solo trips a year down to WDW and have yet to have a single trip where some parent didn't try to push their kid up in front of me for a parade, then try to push themselves up there too, so they can see their kid. Excuse me I have no problem letting a kid shorter than me in front of me. I can still see over their head, so it's not a big deal and I used to always invite any kids behind me up in front of me, until their parents started coming up and trying to push me out of the way. I never take pictures of the characters anymore, unless an unususal one is out (like this past Dec in France, when I saw Marie). I don't know how many times I've had some parent say I should let their kid go ahead of me, just because I don't have a kid with me. I've also been almost accosted at CS restaruants, when no tables for two are available and I have to sit at a four topper. I've always invited people to share my table, if I have seats, but both at Cosmic Rays and at Tusker House (back when it used to be a CS), I've actually have families demand that I get up, so they can have the table. One lady at Tusker House actually told me that since I was solo, that I should go outside and sit on the wall, so I didn't take up a table a family could use.:rolleyes1

I think no matter where you sit on Soarin it is great. Every seat gives you a different view. There is lots to see and if you are looking at the screen you hardly notice the feet around it.

I would hate to see everyone requesting the first row. I don't know if I would call it rude but you should take your chances like everyone else.

I'm goint to move this over to our trip report board.

I have a friend who lives near WDW and she frequents the parks and restaurants. She tells me the same thing you say. I agree with a number of these posts that it really isnt the kids, its the adults. I realize everyone is there on vacation but their enjoyment should not come at my expense. One time on our flight down the satellite tv went down and some woman started screaming that she wanted a refund because her kids were expecting to watch TV. It a 2 hour flight! She kept trying to get my hubby and I to agree with her; but he was sleeping and I was reading. She barked the entire 2 hours.

Dont get me wrong, my hubby and I have a great time at WDW. I do not let things get to me too much.
