Gutted: Dh didn't get his PhD

MrNeo has been working on a PhD for ages, it took ages because he also has a full time job. Today he had his viva and he's called to give me the result.
The internal examiner wanted MrNeo to pass, but the external wanted more. Basically a complete extension of the research, MrNeo's thesis was based on a microscopic level of sound and the external wanted to see the theories on a macroscopic level too which would take about another year of research. So they settled on giving him an M.Phil. MrNeo is taking it well and is glad it's all over. Me, I'm gutted to be honest.

MPhil is brilliant though and if he is glad now to finish his studies and move on then I say throw a party, book a trip to Disney and open the bubbly up

Congratulations MrNeo! Sorry he didn't get what he'd worked for but the M.Phil is awesome! My DH couldn't be bothered to go for his doctorate in the end as he too was working - he has plans to pick up his research when he retires - we'll see...
