Gut check my 12/28 evening framework

Hey friends,

Compulsive planning for a trip at the end of the year. Our first day 12/28 will start at DCA (since this is not normally an EMH day, but is because every day is MM/EMH that week), and after we go commando there and have lunch and take a break at the hotel, we'll return to DL for the evening.

So, I currently have a 1900 Hungry Bear Fantasmic Package (2nd show) reservation, a 2100 Reservation at Oga's Cantina, and then obviously need to be back at the river in time to seat for the 2nd Fantasmic show at 2230. Six people in our party.

I figure that We should be able to eat our on-the-go dinner at HB, then walk up the path to Galaxy's edge to avoid the traffic jam for the first Fantasmic show. Hang out in Galaxy's edge for a spell (ride Millennium Falcon if the wait time is reasonable, if not no big deal, do some shopping/sight seeing), hit the Cantina for a drink/snack at 2100, then be out of there in time to go seat for the 2nd Fantasmic show.

This seems doable, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something. Also wondering if maybe I should try and move the Cantina reservation up a little to improve the possibility of being out in time for the fireworks over the spires at 9:30...or just to reduce the chance of getting stuck in crowd control hell and not be able to get back to the riverbank in time for F!

I guess I'm mostly wondering how the flow through GE is on very crowded evenings. This will be our first time to DLR since GE opened.

TIA!

Remember that Oga's isn't instant tables--that is, even with a reservation, you still wait in line to be seated/stood at your table. I fear you have too much planned for that amount of time.

Agree with the pp. I'd move the Cantina reservation to an earlier time. We've waited anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes after checking in, depending on the crowds that day. During Christmas Week, I'd expect to be waiting for a bit after checking in.

Thanks folks,

Moved the Cantina res to 2030 - figure that should give us enough time to check in, get a drink, and then head back to F!

Now I'm overthinking it. Like hard. Someone slap me.

Would it be better to hit the Cantina before dinner? Like head back to GE for a 1630 or 1700 Cantina Reservation, hang out in GE and/or ride MFSR, then head to Hungry Bear for 1900 dinner, pop up into GE and hang out until fireworks, then head back to F! after?

I could go with that plan -- it certainly gives you more breathing room to work with -- and during peak crowd times in the park, the more room you have to work on the fly, the better. Don't worry too much about overthinking things now -- now is when you need to do your best planning so that you can fly by the seat of your pants when you get to the parks. That's how the best magic happens!
