Gun found on ak ride sunday

Our local amusement park has metal detectors at the front gate. I hope Disney doesn't have to resort to that but there are a lot of crazy people in the world and a crowded theme park is a big target.

Your right I also hope that Disney dose not have to and I think they won't. But give Disney some time maybe they can put a meet and great in front by the gate and the character can hug you and it be a secret metal detector.

haha!

But seriously, I am sure there are many others who have carried a gun in the parks. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that there are many people who carry everywhere they go for whatever reasons they feel are justified ...

I'm just very thankful that it didn't end up in the wrong hands.

And I have to ask. Was it really an "enormous" knife? Who would carry that in their pocket anyway? Are you sure it was a pocket knife with a typical 4 to 6 inch blade, that flips open? I would not consider that an enormous knife.

I'm not sure where this person kept it. All I saw was a large knife pulled out in the middle of a shop with young children running around. It seemed a bit inappropriate in my opinion. As far as the size, I would say it was at least six inches. I was stunned that three CMs did nothing but stare.

The need to have a gun at all times seems so foreign to me. And I'm not even Canadian! (Get it...see what I did there?)

Seriously though, I don't get it and I live in south Louisiana so you know there's plenty of Cajuns around carrying guns. Why the need for the gun in an area so densely populated and full of children. A safe place, crawling with security. And then to be so careless that it slips out of your pocket?!! Pocket?!!! Don't they make things that'll securely hold those things?

Kevin is right, this is not a discussion about gun rights, but shouldn't there be some sort of penalty for being so careless with a loaded gun?

I'm so thankful nothing tragic happened, but the possibility of such a tragedy is still pretty frightening.

A gun with hollow point bullets has no business being on someone at an amusement park! I don't care if it's in a park in the middle of Detroit. Why he would even think it was safe is beyond me. Can you imagine if a child thought it was fake and aimed it?!:worried::worried:

Wonder if there are going to be metal detectors because of this.

Why anyone feels then need to carry a weapon into WDW is beyond rational thinking.

Haven't you read any of the line-cutting threads?? I guess some people take the whole "You're not going to get past me!" thing a little too seriously. :rotfl2: Or maybe he was looking for vigilante justice against Little Red's poachers. ;)

As a police officer I can legally carry a concealed weapon anywhere in the U.S. with some restrictions , placces that serve alcohol etc. With that said I have never felt the need to carry one in any disney park period ! Here's the problem in the event of an "active shooter" in the park and this guy tries to be a "hero" police/security sees him with a gun believe me, they will not take the time to ask this guy if he has a permit or if he in fact is the "bad guy" they will take him out! Call it natural selection or whatever but it would put an early end to his day! Let security do their jobs and leave the guns at home!

And for the record I believe in the 2nd ammendment....AND RESPONSABLE gun ownership!

You are incorrect, my son-in-law is an ATF agent working in South Florida and a security agent noticed a bump under his jacket, they took him aside asked if he had a weapon and he showed his credentials and they took the weapon placed it under lock and key and returned when we left the park. The only weapons you see are on the Sheriffs outside the gates. Just because your an officer of the law doesn't allow you to carry weapons into the parks.

But they have him the respect and held the gun while they my not for regular guest so if your a police officer they Will hold your gun. If I bring a gun thy can tell me to go back to my car and put in their locked up. Plus if your a police officer federal or state you should show ocso the respect they deserve and let them know your carrying your service weapon.

It also might be his department rules that he can't carry in. Places that have alcohol.

Disney could put a large sign with Large bold print stating NO GUNS, KNIFES or WEAPONS and some guest would say they didn't know about that policy.

Some guests don't read I guess but Disney probably should anyway. Maybe thats what the company will have to do.

I'm just grateful that some kid didn't find it and that it was an adult.

What I was trying to say was as a law enforcement officer, you can carry concealed from state to state (I am not a Florida resident). And because its private property disney can ban anything or anyone from their parks that they see fit. As for it being illegal its not, its against disneys rules which I agree with.
