Sheesh, at least they could wait until midnight. But noooo, this happens every year.

Just be happy it's not TnT! We had a neighbor who did that every New Year's and got arrested every single year.

sshhhhh, we did that one year.

We didn't get arrested, but all the neighbors came out that night. We are used to hearing guns, but that was a little loud.

This is our first year in this house...hopefully no one does naything dumb...but if they do the head of the police dept. is rabout 3 houses away:teeth: Go ahead, make my day!! ;)

Our neighbor didn't just set off a little bit. He would use so much that some people had their windows blown out.

Now we live in front of a church. All the members arrived about 5 or 6 tonight. I just hope they don't do anything weird. They've already made me wonder if they are one of those creepy ones.

A lot of the Churches host a special Communion/Service of New Year's Eve.:D

They shoot guns and bottle rockets around here - usually beginning at 11:30 pm until about 2:00 am. The creek is located about 1/2 mile from us - I suspect some of the people who have summer cottages come up and are the celebrants. If I ever find out who the suspects are - I'm gonna go make some noise in their ears at around 7:30 am!!;)

My h just had a little. It blew a hole in the snow and a little of ground, but that was it.

What is WITH people? I am hating fireworks right now! I am staying home tonight because on my way out, a fire cracker exploded right next to me in my yard. Then they kept coming! My dog already has anxiety problems, so he's going out of his mind. Then I'm too nervous that these people are going to set my bushes on fire, and you KNOW they wouldn't call the FD or get my pets out of the house if they started a fire. I'm so peeved. I wish they were illegal.

And the guns -- how stupid is that? Just outside of the French Quarter one year, I was near a woman who died from a falling bullet to the head. I guess "what goes up must come down" is too complex for some people to comprehend.

I'm just waiting for the dog's meds to kick in and the barking to stop. I officially hate holidays that involve fireworks.

Doc, my doggie is at my feet. She hates the noise too. I wouldn't go outside tonight unless I absolutely had to. People around here can be crazy.

Sorry if I came off wrong in my post. There are a few around here who have services for New Year's Eve. Acutally I'm shocked that there aren't more. But anyway, these people can just be strange sometimes. For a church of so few members they sure do meet a lot and make tons of noise. You just wouldn't believe how loud they can get. I can't usually make it out, but it doesn't sound like any hymns I know. Maybe they just all have lots of fun together and enjoy being around each other so much.

They did invite us to visit. But I think I'll stick with my church.

Is this a normal thing at this time of year??

I so hate guns & I'm oh so thankful that they are illegal over here, I doubt I'd sleep if they weren't:(

Michelle, my church has a full rock band, instead of a choir.

Hmmmm, I never thought about the doggies getting upset. We've had fireworks going off continuously for the last few hours. Gibson seems to love it. He's outside with DH, and DD and her friend. They're doing some of those cone things, that are basically just big sparklers, with no explosions.

Nutsy, I'm sorry to say this is normal at any celebration. What scares me is when it's not a holiday. I don't live in a bad neighborhood, at least not in looks, but it isn't safe here. I just know where to go and not go, and I don't go out walking at night.

The chief of police here in Chicago said if people are caught this year shooting off their guns, they will throw the book at them.

I must live a very sheltered life...it would never occur to me that people shoot off guns!! We live out in the country, and haven't heard a peep tonight.

I was in Brooklyn, NY, July 4, 1976 (the bicentennial), watching the fireworks from a roof, and THAT was scarey...it looked like a war zone, particularly later in the night driving back to my sister's.

I got lucky around here, no guns.. (must be living across from the convent that will do that).

However, i did get treated to not one but two fireworks shows... I could see the Cooper River (Camden ones) from one side of the street, and I could see some of Philadelphia ones as welll (ok... just the tippy tippy tops) ..

The doggies were fast asleep! I thought the poodle (who barks at air at 4 am!) would be a mess, but he was actually good!

Serena, I doubt I would be comfortable just knowing that people have a gun. I'd never feel safe anywhere:(

You guys stay safe ok.
