Guitar Lessons - Software????

My daughter asked Santa to bring her a Guitar. LOL

She is 20 and in College and wants to teach herself how to play an acoustic guitar. I love that she wants to learn, but where is she finding the time.

I know there is software that she could use on her Mac to learn how to play.

The only background she has with instruments is that she played the clarinet when she was little.

What software level would you recommend for her age?

It's called "the internet".

Thousands and thousands and thousands of lesson stuff on the internet. Tabs can be downloaded and followed for nearly every song imaginable. Youtube videos have lesson videos that show you every note to play for a song.

See my post HERE in the recent "Acoustic Guitar" thread. I posted a couple of good sites that I use. I've never taken a lesson or used software.

Also UTube has alot of videos about learning to play guitar and even specific songs. My son uses it all the time.

My DS (11) has been taking guitar lessons for almost a year....I happened to see a guitar presentation on HSN of all places...it included a guitar and a series of 10 DVD's that are very very worth the money..he is picking up more in those few DVDs than he has a year in lessons...plus the Guitar is pretty nice too..is it the cadillac of guitars? NO, but very decent....

Tell her to see if they offer a guitar class at her college. I had to take guitar (majored in music education) but I was in a class with a bunch of people who just wanted to learn to play the guitar. It was a really fun class, and when you're motivated by a grade, you'll actually practice

Otherwise..definitely youtube, and tabs and chords are easily found online.
