Just been listening to a recent show, and Kevin and John mentioned that they were thinking of buying 'Guitar Hero'. This got me thinking...

Has anyone on the DIS ever played 'Guitar Hero', and what is the appeal? I've never tried it myself, but I've been taking 'real' guitar lessons for just under a year and find it very difficult yet rewarding.

I don't really have an opinion on 'Hero', but you could say I just don't get it. Can anyone fill me in?

:)

First time i heard of it, I also wondered why it would be any good.
Then played it at a friend's house and loved it!
The appeal is hard to explain, it's just a good, fun, rhthym game, with a cool add on (the guitar)

I have GH3:Legends of Rock and GH:World Tour

:goodvibes

I LOVE Guitar Hero, I have all the 360 versions of GH and all the official instruments. As soon as John and Kevin said they wanted it, I instantly (in my head) was screaming for them to get it!

I used to have gh but i recently went to the other side and got rock band and love it. Just a fun great thing to do.

DBF and I have all the rock bands and guitar heros. They are TONS of fun!!!!

I also play real guitar, and as far as the guitar goes, the game is really not much like playing a real guitar at all, so it's a fun, different way to play music :)

The drums, however, is just like learning a real drum set, and is super hard!!!!!:rotfl:

We have all the versions for the Wii and Rock Band for the Xbox. We love playing, its a great game to play with my kids and since they are in music lessons they really get into some of the old songs. I'm not a big fan of Rock Band, mostly because I don't care for the drums and singing. But with two guitars we can play a lot of guitar hero's together and we have a lot of fun.

It is sooo much fun. We have it for PS2 with 2 guitars, a drum set and a mike. It is really fun to see my boys (ages 7 and 5) get into it.

I am not musically inclined and I LOVE Guitar Hero, so much so that I got the World Tour (comes with the drums). The drums are really hard for the adults, but the kids seem to pick them up pretty quick. I highly recommed it, but BE WARNED......it is VERY ADDICTING!

I have 3 guitar heros and 2 rock bands... more plastic instruments than you can shake a stick at. My wife and I love them. I personally stink on the guitar, but i can rock the drums on medium and get by fairly well on hard, so I must be like a kid. I find I get better with practice on the drums, but there is no hope for me on the guitar.

Just a heads up, Rockband 1 (game only) is on sale at Gamestop used for $15 this week.

I also do have both RB's (I got the complete set for the first one for free!!!). It's true what you say about both guitar and drums, since I play guitar and bass (mainly) and its no similar, and have been playing the drums for about 5 years and got straight in with the drums on both games!

I gave DH Guitar Hero WT (Wii) with the Band Kit for Christmas. He has always wanted to play the drums and I thought he would like the diversion. I did not think I would love it. However, it took ONE DAY for us to run out and buy an extra guitar (bass) so the whole family can play together. We are having a great time.

I bought Guitar Hero because of the Hotel California factor (DH's favorite song). We recently learned that our GH instruments would work on RB2, so we bought that too. We find the drums more challenging on RB and the guitar (at least the 'easy' ad 'medium' settings) more challenging on GH.

We even each have characters that look like us!

We got Rock Band 2 for the PS3, and love it. It the feeling of actually playing and singing along with your favorite songs (assuming your favorite songs are available).

The drums take a lot of room in the living room though...

I understand the instruments are compatible with GH:WT and possibly GH3:LOR, so we wouldn't have to buy a separate set of instruments to play those songs as well. I want to borrow it from someone to be sure though.

I know the RB1 drums work on GHWT, so it would make sense for RB2 to be OK, not sure on the RB guitar, never tried to hook my RB1 one up. We don't have the RB2 instruments in the UK, and probably won't get them for a long time, so can't give a full answer.

Guitar Hero (World Tour for Wii) is playing at our house just about anytime the family is home. I like to play it with them but never do on my own. My dh and the kids are addicted...
(I am addicted to Wii Fit so I can't judge!:lmao: )

We had it too. It's really fun, DH and DS is addicted to it now. We saw it from a friend that's why DH is crazy to buy for it. Glad that I enjoyed too. :lmao:

I enjoy Guitar Hero. My daughter got it for Xmas for Wii. And just recently she bought the drums. The guitar is fun. I do ok on easy and some mediums. Playing the drums is hard. I get confused and then end up hitting the wrong pad. I would recommend this game.

We have both GH and Rockband. I think Rockband is the more entertaining game for people who want to play together. We have a blast switching from vocals, drums, and guitar. :thumbsup2
