Guinea Pig Reserved Dining Reporting Back!

You may be right about the ticket cutoffs, but you may be really be cutting it close with your current reservations. Then again, maybe I'm just unusual in having two very slow experiences with WCT?

Hope it all works out for you! Have a GREAT trip! I hope it goes even better than you plan. :)

Well Amanda at DD says WOC dining is completely booked on Tuesday, so we couldn't change our times :headache:, BUT she was kind enough to pull up our ressies to confirm we have WOC packages :). We'll plan to get there early just in case they have a no-show or two & can get us seated, (or at least hopefully seated as close to 6:30 as possible).

Thanks again for your informative post!

Thanks for posting on your experience and for being a guine pig.

My dinner res is for 6pm at AG. Am wondering if I should try to move it up.

Waiting for more results to pour in....

Thank you for such a GREAT post!

HydroGuy -- I am pasting one of her statements for you:

"But it went out without a hitch for us and it worked great! Pricey but great. Not sure I'd do it again (being cheap and all), but if you're going in the first few weeks I would highly recommend it. Especially for the first show--they do a pre-show for the first show only. At least today, if you were in the center (as I was), you're far enough away from the action that you don't feel obligated to participate, but close enough that you can if you want. "

Thanks Eeee-va for the great report! :goodvibes Yay for guinea pigs! :yay:

Thank you so much for such a detailed report - it's ages until we will actually get to experience the show, but certainly helps planning! :thumbsup2

This board is the best resource - especially for those of us who might only get to DL once every 5-10 years.

So were you standing kind of in a higher area with a wall in front of you? My 2 oldest are pretty tall and would have no issues seeing over the wall (from the looks of it). Already planning on holding our younger 2, but the view from that spot looks really good.

We have ressies at AG at 5 one week from tonight! YEAH! :cool1:

Currently in the park @ the WoC viewing area.

My DA and I did the dining package @ AG for 5 and the food was nice. When we finished, we got our preferred dining tickets for the 9 pm show. It was around 630 that the two of us were waiting at the blockade.

They let the people enter the walking entrance and we went to our assign color area. Interesting that the preferred dining section was in the same line as the blue section. Than around 720 they let us in, but when they ask people what ticket they have, we told the that we have the dining package and they moved us a row back from blue tier 3 and we got the top stairway center viewing area.

I thought that we had to go with the blue section, but at least this was better than yesterday since we were in blue tier 2.

Thanks so much for the kind words, everyone! Glad to be of service. If you're in the parks Sunday afternoon I will have the small felt lime green Mickey heads in my hair. :)

PinkBudgie, I think Angel22 is right on, but I'm not sure they'll ever pack the dining packages in like sardines. It was my understanding that WoC dining was entirely sold out for the weekend. Really, though, they could've booked our section with like 30% more people than we had on Friday and it would've been just fine provided you were lucky enough to arrive at 7:20 or earlier. :flower3:

DisneyMomma81, I saw them taking steaks/etc. outside, so it appears to me that you COULD eat outside. I think the whole idea was to have the inside reserved for WoC dining and then outdoors for general dining, but I'm not sure. Eating outside would have been OK for us but in June 2009 we went and it was way too hot (the shade structures may help that) and this year one of my travel buddies said she would have been too cold! :rotfl:

aristocat65, we got out of the crush of people by ducking into the Blue Sky Cellar area and then waiting for some of the crowds to pass by. IF you have the time to spare that's what I would recommend...honestly, the crush of people wasn't really bad once you were clear from the Paradise Park area (including the street and bridge), but I'd rather sit and wait and then walk quickly, rather than shuffle along and fear losing party members and still end up only getting out a couple minutes faster than if I'd waited for crowds to clear. The crowds may have been worse (or better!) had we not stayed for the small "encore".

One of our party was frustrated that as we passed the San Francisco area we were not permitted to go down it (you can see a lot of the fireworks from that path).

The one issue we DID have today is that at about...I think it was 6:15 PM, they blocked off Paradise Park so that if you went all the way around Paradise Bay and wanted to get back to the main area of the park, you had to circle entirely back. That really ticked off one member of our party; I was OK.

brenda1966, I think that may depend on how fast you can eat, but if you can move it up a little that might be best. I have heard that Ariel's Grotto is a lot more used to turning over tables quickly though. We got through in 80 minutes and they weren't really trying to move quickly by the end, either. So I'd much rather have a reservation for the first show at that time at Ariel's Grotto than at WCT.

Thank you for being my editor for HydroGuy, specialks. :)

I'm not sure I got any clear pictures of the situation--sorry! But we were right behind/against a ROPE that defined a walkway. The wall was on the far side of that walkway. However, they were keeping the walkway clear; the outdoor vending folks were using it. Some security people/etc. did pass in front of us occasionally, but none stayed standing still at all. The viewing was perfect for us, and it's very unlikely that Disney would let someone stand in a walkway, so it was pretty safe.

I'm personally thinking that they'll probably end up redoing the area to be more slanted/angled like Fantasmic! :confused3 But I guess not for a while!

mvf-m11c, thanks; your experience sounds a bit like mine except you were a bit more aggressive (which was smart!).

And it is no spoiler to say that of course I loved World of Color (not better than Fantasmic; different!). This trip has gone just WONDERFULLY. I thought nothing could top our beautiful December trip...well, let's say December was like Fantasmic! and this trip was like World of Color. Both nearly perfect with a few flaws...just different. :)

Can say anything more about your AG experience (recommended choices, did you get your guaranteed inside or outside seating, or anything else helpful you can think of)? Also, would you recommended going to line up at 6:30, as you did? We are going to AG for the WoC package on July 4th.

Thanks!

The dining experience at AG was nice. We had our reservation at 5 and it was insane, there were a lot of families waiting to eat at AG for WoC. We only had to wait for a few minutes when we were seated.

We sat inside the restaurant and there were a few people having there dinner inside, until it was 6 when more and more people were at the tables inside and outside the restaurant.

The food was nice, but not outstanding. The appetizers had a different of choices. The entrees that my DA and I could have been better. She had the red fish and I had the tri tip, it was okay, but it could be better. Then dessert looked really good to eat since they made a white chocolate film of dumbo, Pocahontas and the center the WoC logo on a film style design. The other desserts were okay, but the white chocolate film picture was good.

The overall dinner was good, but not outstanding. When I ordered the tri tip they didn't say how wanted it cook. They brought it to me medium well. It almost if it was already cooked and just waited to be served. It was warm when I received it and it wasn't long when we got the appetizer first.

But for the FP, it would have been better to try the picnic package since it is cheaper and the viewing area is close to the dining viewing area.

For all the days that i was there during the opening of WoC, if you want a good viewing area with a railing, I would say yes, since it will be on a holiday. There were some people from the dining package who were ahead of us, but we still got a good view.

We just decided to book Aug 20-22, with hopes of securing a WOC dinner package on Sat 8/21. We were looking at AG, but saw the picnic option. Do these book for the same section of viewing WOC?

Also, what time can you line up for the second showing, the 10:15? Just trying to decide what time to *hopefully* make our reservation.

TIA!

The picnic boxes get a WoC FP for the viewing area by the bridge. Not sure what the time is on the FPs for the 2nd show, but I know people line up earlier than stated because that's what Disney fans do. hehe Hopefully someone else can tell you the time on the FP. :)

You can order the picnic option online to reserve a viewing space for the first WoC show. They are nonrefundable and can only be booked 1-30 days in advance. Picnics are available on a first come, first served basis each day, which includes a viewing space for the second show.

The picnic options appear to come with a reserved space in either the "blue" or "yellow" section, which are on each side of the centerline of PP. The sit down dinner is in the "preferred dining" section, and holders of these passes line up with the "blue" section, but should be admitted to the section in the very center of PP.

Fastpasses obtained without any dining option can be in "yellow" or "blue" or can be in the less desirable "red" or "orange" or the still unclear to me, "green" section. Fastpasses for each color section are distributed randomly, so that the first party to get fasspasses might get, for example, "red." But all the fastpasses for the first show are distributed first, then all for the second show are distributed second, and then all for the not-yet-announced-but-probably-happening third show will be distributed last. -- Suzanne
