Well. We were actually trying to find things to spend money on so decided to pay for the motel reservation on the drive down (Disney Visa rewards activation) and they had lost our reservation. It was non cancellable even though I had not paid for it yet so we were actually pretty excited about this.
Gonna have to face that we are not stop and rest on the way to Disneyland people. Lol. Decided to Drive straight through at night again and got a priceline hotel for $43 for Sunday night. We figure leave about 10pm St night, get in at 1pm, go eat at Hometown buffet on Katella (coupon+giftcard) and get settled in to the hotel. We can also get our lmt vouchers turned into tickets for easier entry the next day. Perused BFT and Better bidding and decided to go for the Anaheim Marriot Suites in the Garden Grove area and nailed it for $43. HOJO was sold out or we just would have added a day. This way we can have a good nights rest, get up early, check out of the hotel and drive to HOJO where we can park because we have reservations that day and go to the parks!
It'll be better too because our first days will be so busy there-- need to take advantage of the morning.

Your plan mimics ours except we are leaving at 5 am from SLC and should arrive about 3 pm that same day- check into either the HoJo or Anaheim Marriot Suites, do dinner, shop, swim, chill.
Our plans is to get up at the crack butt of dawn and head over to the GCV to check in. I'd love to make MM that day but we'd have to be in line at 6:30 am.

It worked out great. We left a 5am and stopped a lot so we got in pretty late.
