Hi all. I don't often post here. I usually am found on the cruise boards. But after reading the posts about sick children, I really felt I had to post.
My DD, 6 has been complaining, on and off for about 3 days, of a sore throat. This morning was no different, just a little whining, "Mommy my throat hurts, I can't go to school". I cheered her up, checked her throat ( a little red), no fever, so she had a light breakfast and off to school.
I pick her up after school and again she says her throat hurts. This was the first time she said it AFTER school, so off to the pediatrician. Turns out she has strep and an ear infection! She's on Zithromax for 5 days. By 6PM she was in so much pain, she couldn't take Motrin-she just can't swallow!
My poor little girl is drifting in and out of sleep, in pain. If only I had taken her to the doctor yesterday.
The thing is, this year she seems to have caught on that I will not send her into school if she's sick. So there have been a myriad of symptoms for the past month. Sigh, the truth is I just didn't believe her. She has allergies and all the sneezing and nasal drip can cause her throat to be irritated. No fever this morning, but now it's 102!
Anyway, thanks for listening. I just HAD to tell someone how guilty I felt!

He's now 15 and in just the last couple of years has come to the conclusion that he was the "Little Boy Who Cried Wolf" one time too many!!
He's much more honest.
