Guide insists we can't use BCV free nite incentive for this June...

Just checking on this...Anyone else trying to do this?

She said 'no way' since BCV not opened til July...that DVC won't have those pts to 'pay' for the free room in their inventory til BCV opens. But it seems others here are able to do this. We thought maybe all rooms were sold out at the hotels. She said it is not about availability, it's about inventory.

WE bought MARCH use year. Is this maybe the problem?

Also, have any of you booked 'last minute' trips successfully (if you are flexible with dvc resorts on-site?)

We just joined in March as well and can't book any rooms for use prior to July 1. Remember you don't pay monthly dues until then either. Thats the rules Disney set for Beachclub so not much you can do but be patient.

Mai Ku Tiki- I apologize if I gave you false information, but when I bought at BCV in Feb (dec use year) my guide looked up the rules for the free stay and said it could be for a stay from Feb 2002 until July 2003. The free stay was an incentive not a buy back of points in my understanding, and was designed to make up for the fact you could not visit until July (at that time the open date was Aug or Sept). Maybe they changed, maybe she got it wrong- but she gave me specific black out dates which included presidents day this year and Easter as well- so why would they give those black out dates if it wasn't even available then? I hope someone can clarify if this was an error or just a change in the offer.

We bought in Feb with a Feb use year. With our papers we received a yellow sheet with instructions on booking the free stay. As kem330 said, blackout dates included 2/14-18 and 3/28-4/1 of this year. You do have to wait 20 days after signing to book and you can't book more than 7 months in advance of your stay. We booked in early March and stayed toward the end of March. Did you get a yellow sheet? Perhaps they have changed the rules as kem330 said. Oh, welcome home!!!

Maybe your guide doesn't understand what you are asking. Maybe she thinks you want to use your points to stay at a non-dvc property, in that case the points would need be "traded". My understanding of the free nights offer was so that those people who purchased prior to BCV opening would have a place to stay BEFORE it opened if they wanted too. Like other have said, maybe this has changed, but if I were you I would try calling Membership Services and ask them.

Unless there has been a change to the "incentive" since we bought, I think your guide is wrong.

We bought points in February, with an April use year. Imediatley after our account went to "complete & recieved" (fourteen days after signing documents), we booked one of our free stays for the last part of May.
