People have come a long way with how to handle service animals. Years ago...and I mean years ago, like almost 20, when I was around my first service dog, you would hear the stupidest comments. "What a waste of a good hunting dog", "Oh I can make something that looks like a harness and bring my dog wherever I want", "Of course Little Sally, go right ahead and pet that dog, if they bring it in public you're allowed to play with it". I understand they weren't as common as they are now, service animals that is, but people were reaaaaaaally stupid over it. You still run into the occasional butthead, but its a lot more of "No you can't pet that dog it's working","That's a worker dog, leave it alone", "Ask the person first if you can pet it".
