What is a good guide book to get for WDW and cruise? I heard that Passporter is a good one. Any help would be great. If I do go with the Passsporter should I get the deluxe with pockets?

The best book out there for the cruise is PassPorter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line, If your doing the land sea or plan on being in the Orlando area Fodor's Walt Disney World with Kids have a decent segment on the cruise also. Hope this helps.
If you need anything else just let me know.

Have a great trip...and remember planing is half the fun.

I love the Passporter as well. I personally don't need the one with pockets since I use it more for information--I have my plane info, hotel info, etc. in a separate folder by my computer.

I am a big fan of the Passporter and the pockets have turned out (unexpectedly) to be something I really use. I made advanced reservations on-line for a couple ports, and I just stuffed the printed receipts and contact info into the pockets for the day we'll be in that port. Now I know exactly where in the DCL planning piles the important docs are! I also have all my travel agent contact numbers etc. in the front along with the trip insurance paperwork. It has been really handy, and I would recommend it highly.

I love the Passporter - between it and this board, I feel pretty informed about our first trip with DCL! I had originally gotten the paperback version, but decided to upgrade to the deluxe edition, which comes in a nice binder with pockets. The binder & pockets part is worth it simply to have some place to put all of those bits of paper, etc. I use to plan. I can also see that the pockets will be very useful for when we're actually on the ship and make it easy to organize a trip report when we return! Highly recommend it-

We're on the 7 day Western cruise now and have found the Passporter to be very valuable. As an example, today at Cozumel, before we went ashore, I opened it up for a map of the downtown shopping area and found some good tips that helped us. It not only helps with the various ship activities, but also the possible shore activities.

I originally ordered the expensive version, but Amazon has not been able to get their act together on that for four months. I picked up the paperback version and have been very happy with it.

Go here and click on the "Magical Disney Cruise Guide" you can choose it to be a web page or you can download the Word Doc that you then can save to your own pc. It's chock full of great info. Not as much as you can get her by asking, but it is still a very good resource.Magical Disney Cruise Guide

Each year we've done WDW we used Bob Sehlinger's unofficial guide to WDW.

He's since added a huge chapter about the Disney cruise.

I enjoy the book because it's written with a great sense of humor, (I think this guy moonlights as a stand-up comic), and because it has very useful, no-nonsense info (such as must-dos, things to avoid pricewise, etc.) It's very helpful.

(You might check a half-price bookstore for last year's copy. The info doesn't change much from year to year.):D

I love" Birbaum's Guide To Disney World" it list all the Disney resorts and the cruise line.

Add another vote for Passporter. I have not found any good guides (other than on-line, which is not easily accessable at all times!) on DCL, but then came along the Passporter. It combines all resources into one very handy guide. The WDW Passporter is great, as well....I also like Birnbaums (it is published by Disney, so it is very friendly to WDW;) , not a bad thing said about any attraction!) But overall, I have found Passporter to be my favorite for both WDW and DCL.

I really like the Passporter! For WDW though, I also love the unofficial guide.. I like my wisdom with a dose of humour. :) I usually lend one out from the library and decide if enough has changed (from the previous year) to purchase it.

:sunny: This is an FYI. The 2044 Pasporter for the DCL will not be available till April or May. I had sent them an e mail and this is what the told me. The one that is available now is the 2003. This is also the first one that they did on DCL.:bounce:
