Guide books for 2007

I have read that 2007 packages will not be released not until September. I read that changes may come in the dining plan and rate increases. I have also read that guide books like the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World will be released in August. Will these guide books have information on these changes?

I'm not an authority on the WDW books but I was in publishing for many years and I think those release dates sound about right. Somehow I thought the official book came out in October before but I could be wrong. The amount of accuracy of the info is pretty much outdated the second it gets printed becuse anything that might have occured within the 2 months before publishing won't have gotten into the book. So it depends on when the info became available. I would *think* the official guide might have more up to date info as they have the finger on the source so to speak but there is a minimum of a few months prior to the book hitting the shelves where any info could have been changed the book won't reflect that update. This is why for my Dec 2006 trip I was waiting to get a few guide until the came out with the 2007 versions this fall.

No, most guide books are probably at press or going to press before the changes, so they won't have the updated information. This happened 2 years ago, when they went to press, and then almost as soon as they went to press, Disney started the MYW packages. You'll need to keep up with a website like this to really be updated. Edited to add that most guide book authors don't have any "inside" information as to what's upcoming with the Disney company. They wait for press releases, etc., just like the rest of us. Some guidebooks will update their website as Disney releases new information (I know Passporter does this), but for the most part, they are dependent on the same release of information as the general public.

This is probably true for all but probably one book, I did say "might". When we were doing officially licensed books for companies or ones that have timely info, we always got information from the company even prior to press release dates. So it can and does happen. Not that it does always or even does in this case, but it is a possibilty unless you konw the innerworkings of Birnbaum's book publishing.
