Guests using our pool- vise versa

We are staying at the Polynesian and our family (cousins) are staying at Wilderness lodge. Anyone ever have problems swimming at a different resort. Obviously all children will want to swim together. Will this be okay?

If you were staying at the YC/BC it would have been an issue as they check resort IDs of everyone entering the pool area. I do not believe that the POLY or the WL check resort IDs so it might not be an issue. Offically only people staying at a certain resort are allowed to use that resorts pools.

I'm glad to hear it shouldn't be a problem. I was wondering the same thing about our December trip. Our friends are staying at ASSp andwe are staying at BWI. We know our kids will want to swim together!

Swimming at a resort you are not staying at is called pool hopping and officially it is not allowed except under certain specific conditions:
-DVC members staying on points (but even then it's not allowed during busy times and members have to call first to check)
-to sister resorts (Like AS-M can swim at AS-S or PO Riverside can swim at the other PO)
-if the pool at your resort is closed for renovation

We were staying at the WL 2 years ago and they actually checked our ID at the pool. They were doing it to almost everyone that was there everytime we went to the pool.

The best thing to do is to call the front desk that day and see if it's okay. If it's not crowded, they'll probably say yes. But it's best to not be embarrassed and have someone ask you to leave. It's technically not allowed, but they will sometimes make allowances for people with friends staying at other resorts, particularly when the pools aren't expected to be crowded.

I can only imagine how sad the kids (and we) will be if they do not allow it. I hope that the fact that we are both staying at WDW resorts will allow us do so. Can we just get an extra room card and give it to them as "proof" if they are asked? I have no ethical dilema with this under the circumstances. (I probably would if our relatives were staying off property, maybe even if they were at a value resort)

The biggest problem with non-registered guests using the resort pool is when the registered guests can't use the pool because there are no chairs available to them or if the pool gets crowded. It's really not fair to the other registered guests for non-registered guests to use the pool.

Hi belu,

The official policy for Disney resort guests is that they are not allowed to pool hop. Only people staying in "sister resorts" are allowed to share pools.

Since you state above that you hav "no ethical dilema" then I wonder why you even asked the question if your mind is already made up that it is okay to pool hop even though the policy is that it is not okay.

It would not be fair if people who are paying to stay at the Poly cannot get chairs at the Poly pool because people from the WL(or any other resort for that matter) are taking up space at the Poly pool.

I hate to say this but if having the kids all be able to swim together is important to your vacation then maybe everyone should be staying at the same resort?

You could do this, but again if they checked it would be awfully embarrassing, especially when it was apparent you were trying to get away with it. Why don't you just call and ask the resorts? It is a rule that you can't pool hop, but Disney has been known to bend their rules occasionally. This way there isn't any question and you won't have to listen to all our opinions of whether one should be able to pool hop or not!

So sorry I asked. My decision was made after reviewing responses.

By the way, I called the Polynesian and spoke to Guest Services. They have no problem with this. They just ask that on the days we swim together we let them know. (In case anyone else was having this problem)

I apologise for inspiring so many nasty posts. This was not my intention.

I will seriously reconsider my posts to these boards in the future.
