We’re new DVC members, we bought direct at Riviera in Feb 2020 - so just before the world shut down. We’re going for our first trip as members this summer in a 2BR. It is my DH and I, our 4 kids, and 3 grandparents. I was excited to at least go up and check out the lounge, but will we all be able to go? By the nature of our group, we’ll all be together for pretty much the entire trip. It said each member gets 3 guests- I was assuming our kids aren’t guests, and the grandparents could be the guests, but I guess I’m not really sure and thought I would ask and make sure.

I’m pretty sure that your kids are members too (assuming that they are under 18), but I don’t think we’ve ever actually tried to bring anybody but our three kids.

It was in the past 6 people allowed in the lounge per blue card so if you show yours and your husband’s you should be fine. Haven’t been since COVID though

Thanks! It’s not the end of the world if we don’t go, and honestly we’re usually rushing around amd don’t have extra time, but I would like to at least stop in and check it out. We will both have a blue card, so that would work.

yes you will be fine. Don't expect a true lounge experience. It is really a relaxation area with cheez its, animal crackers and maybe they will bring the gummys back. They have a free style coke machine and you can charge your phone. they used to have ipads you could use and games system. It is not like the club level lounges but it is air conditioned and the chairs are pretty comfortable.

I think it is the DVC owner plus 5 or 6 guests, Since both you and your DH are owners with blue cards, you should be able to go up...assuming space for all when you get there. Just have both cards and your IDs ready to go!

Thanks for asking, I wanted to know as well. I'll have 4 guests during my next trip (one is a kid under 3yo), nice to know we can visit the lounge.

Others have covered the member plus 5 guests per blue card but just a note that anyone who is not an actual member would be considered a guest, including kids.

Ok thanks everyone! It sounds like we can probably all go in with 2 blue cards. If we can’t it’s not the end of the world,
but it would be frustrating to be 1 over when 4 of us are kids and we have 6 in our immediate family (I say this because I saw each member can have 3 guests written somewhere. If the kids are also guests, that would give us 8 people allowed, and we have 9. It’s not like we would tell one grandparent too bad, see you in a few lol). If we have time I think we’ll just go up to go in and see what they say.

When you go, they will probably have to break your group up into two or three groups. They do not have a group of chairs for more than around 3-4. Hopefully things go back to the way they were soon.

Here's the link with the rules listed including the party size. The rule about member plus 3 guests is for dining discounts. We had a group of 7 staying on our reservation and had to show both of our cards to get everyone up but it wasn't a problem.

Thanks! I looked again the way and location I had looked before, and you are correct. I must have seen the dining discount and mistook it for the rules for going to the lounge. It does say a member plus 5 guests when I clicked for further info on the lounge. So we’re all good, if they have room for us. I do have to say, I don’t think it’s going to be a big deal, particularly if we have to break up and be assigned seats due to covid! I want to get my “free” ginger lime Diet Coke amd take photos from where I remember the image works being 😊. I’m thinking 10-15 min tops.

Only the names on the deed are considered members. Once the kids turn 18, they no longer get the perks unless they are there with the owners. So they can't take mom's card and get a dining or shopping discount or head to the lounge.

Even when they're under 18 they don't get the perks.
