Guests coming to visit and parking?

If we have guests come and visit us at BWV one day when we are spending the day at the resort, are they allowed to park in the lot and spend the day with us? Is there a time limit for them to park, the usual 3-hour time limit, or is there a longer time period allowed for them to park since they would be our guest? If so, how would we go about arranging to have a guest visit us and be able to park?

Just tell them at check-in that you have friends coming for a day trip and need a parking pass for them. Then when they arrive and park in the lot, you can put it on their dash.

OK, thanks! Is this all right to do even if the visit will be a few days later than check-in date?

I don't think it will be any problem - they will just give you a 2nd parking pass that has your family's name and trip dates on it. We have done this in the past when my mom's friends came up from S. Florida and visited us at WL for an afternoon/evening.

If you don't have a car yourself, just say "yes" when they ask you at check-in if you need a parking pass and then give that one to your friends.

It may depend on WHEN you will be there. If it is during a busy period, you may need to meet your friends somewhere to give them the pass before they are allowed in to the self park lot. During periods like Food & Wine Festival, BWV controls parking and does not allow anyone without a parking pass from BWI or BWV into the lot. They direct them across the street. If that's full, then too bad, so sad. If that is the case, your friends might get in if they are willing to valet park for the day. Just FYI.

Yes, I'm sure Carol is right - I wasn't really thinking about WHICH resort you are staying at - BWV does have a more problematic parking situation than all of the other DVC properties, IMO.

Worst case - valet parking is ?$14 now (I can't keep it straight anymore - $14 or $12).

It will be middle of July, a few weeks from now, so not during F&W. Do you think it will be all right?

They should be fine, especially if it's during the week. Worse comes to worse, they will have to park across the street.

When I'm expecting company during my stay at BWV, I just let them know when I check in. They give me a parking permit for the company to use. And the security CMs are alerted on the day of their arrival so they just direct them to the appropriate parking area. I did that for the day after Thanksgiving when my dad drove up from Pompano to visit us..no problem at all.
