Here's one I heard about second hand and it's actually kind of sad.
On our last day at WDW, a tropical storm was coming through so it was raining too hard to comfortably tour a park, so we went back to AKL to wait in the lobby for our ride to the airport. There were a lot of people who had the same idea that day, so the lobby was pretty crowded. After a while, DH and I went into this little side den that was completely deserted, so we sat there and read. Two other ladies came in and joined us and we all just sat there quietly (the girls were in the lobby with some CMs).
This African CM came in visibly upset and started talking to us. He does some children's activities, one of them being medallion rubbings of the big medallions in the middle of the floor. Because it was raining that day, he actually spent a lot more time with the kids on the rubbings, working through his lunch break.
Just as soon as he was finished and cleaned up all of his materials, this woman came up to him and said she wanted her little boy to do a medallion rubbing. The CM tried to explain to her that they were done for the day and that he had to do other activities, and she
went off on him. She started ranting and raving, "I paid such-and-such amount of money to stay here, and I'm not about to let an employee tell me what I can and cannot do." The way he talked, this ranting went on for a long time with her threatening to speak to his manager and have him fired, and he was really upset.
Basically, she eventually made it clear that she wanted him to leave her with the box of crayons and papers, but he was afraid if he did, he'd get in trouble. It was really ingrained in him that he had to keep that lobby completely clear of his materials. When he tried to explain that to her, she flipped out and was so insulted, as if he was insinuating that she couldn't clean up after herself. At that point, she was just looking for any reason to be mad at what he had to say.
Meanwhile, as he was telling us all this, DH and I, and the two women were appalled that someone would talk to him that way! And I think we all know how disgusting the phrase, "I paid X amount of money, so I better get my way" is.
So anyway, as we were all sitting there with our jaws on the floor, the CM goes on to tell us that he eventually gave in to the woman rather grudgingly, and only because he wanted to make the little boy happy. He was still worried that he'd end up getting in trouble for it. He walked away to do another activity, but noticed that the little boy was really enjoying himself, so he was happy with his decision.
After a while, the woman came up to the CM crying. She said that she just wanted to apologize. She said that she wasn't really feeling like herself at that moment because
less than a week ago her husband died.

She said that they'd had the trip scheduled already and she didn't know whether to stay home or go, and she decided to just go so that she and her child could just get away. Yikes!
The CM felt really bad and told us that he wished she would have just said that in the first place, because he would have then mentioned something to his manager, and they all would have done something extra special for the child and mom.
Just goes to show that you never know what's going on with people, but still, we're not all mind readers!
I was just really touched by that whole story -- how horrible it must have been for that woman, and how shaken the CM was and how he just needed someone to talk to after it was all over. It was probably inappropriate for him to tell us this, but he really needed the support.
