Guests behaving badly (aka we need a round of pixie dust over here!)

I think I know wher e the line cutters come from... Walmart on the day after Thanksgiving sale. Our local one put up barricades, had local police and security there and still the line cutters streamed from the coziness of their cars to try to get in before those who had waited in line for hours. The Cops turned them back very curtly and escoerted them to 6the back of the line . I loved it!!

I don't have a story to add but I must say OMG! The story of psycho lady purposely tripping the poster's DD, the shoe licking, the people line butting and thinking they are entitled, the ones that run into you and then act like it's your fault, etc, etc. And why don't we EVER do parades? Everyone here knows why. Every single time we've even walked by the waitees along the parade route, we've witnessed all sorts of nastiness. No thanks, I'll be on the the rides with less waiting while everyone else has to deal with that crap. I'll take my punishment elsewhere!

Sorry to interrupt the badness, but I have to defend the parade people. I love the parades. I love waiting for the parades. I am one of those people who will sit her but down on the curb for 1 1/2 hours to get a good look at Spectromagic. :rainbow: I have not encountered any nastiness from the people waiting. Rather, I like to talk to them, and make a new Disney friend. :earsgirl: And the people watching before the parades can't be beat! I don't get how people can tour all day in flip flops for heels.

Heely's are my biggest pet peeve...I don't care if you are an "expert" on them or not. I am a great rollerblader and would never wear them at DL or WDW. MOST kids (I won't pretend that I know what all kids will do) use them as a way to whip around people, scare people, and cut people off more quickly. There is NO reason for them to be used in any theme park, mall, or restaurant. I used to work at the Blue Bayou and have seen more issues/accidents with those than I care to explain on this board...Bottom line is they are not acceptable for park use and SHOULD be banned and enforced more strictly. Sorry to the poster who thinks it is ok for her daughter to use them because she is polite on them....they still do not serve a purpose (if you want to use them as sneakers than BUY SNEAKERS!!!) and most people who use them a NOT polite. It is dangerous and completely unneccessary. Sorry if I sound rude, but people think that they are better than the rules or above the rules and that just irks me! You are right...DL doesn't enforce it 100%, but that doesn't make it a right thing to do. OK,putting flameproof suit on and jumping off the soapbox!

SO again, the issue is the rude people wearing them, not the shoes. Rude people are rude people. Whether they are wearing heely's or crocs. Or for that matter, parents who don't control/correct their children are going to be unruly in whatever shoes they are wearing (or licking as one post pointed out).

Further, if you are then going to say that saftey is your issue, first, they are no more dangerous, if used properly, than stiletto heels, which I see plently of at WDW & DL. Ever get stepped on by those while wearing teva's??
Second, if your concern is for the safety of the child, it's not your place...it's not your child. The parent needs to be the judge of what their child is capable of or not. Again, parents who don't supervise their children aren't going to no matter what shoes they have on.

And of course my daughter has sneakers. That's not the point and was kind of a ridiculous thing to say. The pointis that they are multi functional and you can't compare them to roller blades, becuase they are not exclusively on wheels, they have a sneaker component as well.

Finally, let's not forget where we are..it's not the opera..it's a kid's (and adults too) playland! Alot of people are just crouchy and need to remember what it's like to be a kid and lighten up.

They ARE more dangerous than stilettos, can stilletos knock people over?? I don't think so...obviously the people I am discussing are the main problem, but they are not appropriate anyways...THEY ARE SIMPLY NOT NECESSARY THERE! How can you argue that they are the same as a stroller or electric wheelchair. Your daughter does not need to use these while at WDW, but I dare say she may be just a wee bit overindulged and allowed to go above the law. It is people like you that make being a CM "not so magical" all the time. Puh-leese spare me.....if your daughter has sneakers than she should wear them...period. Heelys are dangerous even if used properly (water on the floor, etc.) and are harder than shoes to control...yes even stilleto heels. SOME people just insisit on pushing the envelope and breaking rules that are put in place for a reason....THE SAFETY OF THOSE IN THE PARK. FYI: I am concerned about my own safety and that of my family, I don't need punk kids going 20 MPH on those things and taking out people on main street left and right. trust me, it happens more often than you would like to believe. Have a magical day!

I agree with you on this.....

The only purpose of heelys in a theme park would be to be able to move faster than walking.

I would have loved to had my kids in a double wagon when they were little....not allowed.

My son LOVEs his skateboard and can really move through a crowd well on them but....not allowed.

Wheeled backpacks are not allowed.

I doubt bicycles are allowed either but it should would be convenient to get from one side of the park to the other with one.

If Disney allowed heelies then all of the above should also be allowed.
But I dont think Disney should (and they dont) allow any of them. If you are not capable of walking then you are disabled and they make allowances (and rightfully so) for the disabled.

Tiffer, the difference between stiletto heels and Heelys is that WDW does not allow Heelys in the parks. You can argue about it all you want, but they don't allow it. End of story. If you'd like to continue debating it, there's an entire thread devoted to it.

Moving on....

What's up with the Heely debate??? Isn't that on some other thread?

For real. Haven't we beaten this subject to death already??

YEs the subject is widely discussed. The difference w/heely's and the above ist hat all of those things extend beyond your person and can obstruct a pathway.

Final comment on the dead horse...it's not the end of the story when they do allow it b/c they are all over the parks. They just don't officially allow them. The original issue was people being upset over other people wearing them. My point has always been....why? The response has been b/c people are obnoxious.

If no one ever broke the rules Rosa Parks would have never sat on the front of the bus!

Final words on the issue....sorry for those who were bothered by the discussion.

I agreee with you. I have had very few complaints with people at parades. There are always a few people who are going to cut, obstruct or generally have no manners....but for all of the thousands of people at all of the parades at each visit to each park, my "bad" experiences were very few and far between.

I find Tram behavior to be the worst! People push and cut there the most in my experience.

Ok, back to the guests behaving badly. Except for Heely stories...... ;)

We were in AK a few weeks ago and it was HOT - not record-breaking hot by any means, but HOT enough to be uncomfortable. We were walking towards EE by way of the construction area where Tarzan Rocks used to be and witnessed this father screaming "why are you crying?" "why are you crying" at the top of his lungs in his boy's (prob around 5yo) face - it was evident that the poor child was burning up - his face was bright red - not only from the heat but probably from crying too. So the father proceeds to start spraying the kid in the face with one of those sprayer fans. He'd shoot it into the kids face and then scream in his face "there! now stop! you're fine" and he'd spray again and scream in his face again. My husband - who NEVER says anything to anyone was so upset he just blurted out something like "with a core temperature of about 115 the poor kid's going to have a stroke any second and probably start convulsing" so our DD6 goes - yeah, that kids so hot you could probably fry an egg on his head. Of course the screamer never heard any of this because we could still hear him screaming at this poor kid until we got over the bridge and closer to EE!! The poor baby!

You have got to be kidding...ROSA PARKS!!

Drop it and go cut into a fast pass line!!

I have never and would never cut into a fast pass or any other line. Why am I being attacked for expressing an opinion for about 4 or 5 posts in response to what EVERYONE else was expressing an opinion for??

You asked for the topic to be dropped, so I dropped it...now maybe everyone else can.

I didn't even think of that. You are so right. I have seen at least one outburst by a parent every time I have ever been to a park. It is supposed to be the happiest place on Earth!

They don't allow it. Just because you see them doesn't mean it's allowable. So unless you like to break the rules, then yes, it is the end of the story.

You're right...in fact, they officially don't allow them. And it's not just a Disney thing. This is also Florida law.

Dear DeeKayPee,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Walt Disney World Resort is a heavily themed environment whose world-renowned brand is woven into every element of the show. We reserve the right to exclude from all of our gated attractions. Guests whose appearance could create a distraction to the show. Examples that might be considered as such include the following: Adult costumes or clothing that could be viewed as a costume (unless worn by a child under the age of 10). Masks. Easily visible obscene or offensive language or graphics. Excessively torn clothing. Clothing with offensive material. Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment.

The goal of the Walt Disney World Resort is to provide a safe, secure environment for our Guests to enjoy the show and our Cast to deliver the show. To this end, all theme park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Generally, swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate garments.

Florida law does not permit in-line skating or roller shoes on roadways, Theme Parks or parking lots. Please contact your Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning appropriate guidelines for in-line skating, skateboarding, and scooters at your Resort location.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Ok, I called WDW and recored the call with my cell. My cell only records their side of the call (stupid cell)

HERE is the call.

The quiet parts are me asking her questions as follows.

Her: Sir. Thank you for holding. It would be the same as Rollerblading, we would not allow that. I'm Sorry

Me: So if someone was rolling around...

Her: They would just send them out of the park.

Me: So someoen just walking an dnot attractign attention, they [Disney] would not say anything?

Her: How would they [Disney] know if they'er not drawing attention?

Me: Ok. We were just makign sure. We're talking about it on a few web boards and needed a clear answer.

Her: Right, so yeah the official answer is that you cannot do that.

Me: Ok, thank you.

Her: Your welcome, Have a magical day.

There's a 24 page thread all on this. People went back and forth on Heelys but no one could deny that Disney officially does not allow them.
Hope that's clear enough.
