Guests behaving badly (aka we need a round of pixie dust over here!)

I think you put it best Mking624.....moving on....

Have a magical day! (I really mean that..I'm not being sarcastic) :thumbsup2

Moving on from Rosa Parks and the right to skate in the parks...

More guests behaving badly reports from my last trip...

Father speaking to whining daughter in front of Walt's statue:"If you don't shut that whining up I'm going to smack you! Now shut up, get your *** up there and smile so your mother can take the ******* picture!"

The funniest part was the girl actually did shut up, walked up to statue, turned around and smiled for the camera.

We've locked the last shocking moments thread, and the last heelies thread.

Are we sensing a trend here?

Play nice, and drop the heelies debate. Disney policy is that they're not allowed in the parks. End of story. That wasn't the point of this thread.

I am 31 years old. I'm the wife of a very large kid and the mother of a toddler. Until last week while reading the DisBoards I didn't know what a Heely was. Until this past Monday, I had never seen one. I just realized I am "old". :sad2: To me, this realization is SHOCKING. :scared1: I would buy myself one of these fancy pairs of rolling shoes but I understand that broken bones don't heal as well or as quickly for "old" people, so I'll just leave the hip replacements to the young whipper snappers who shant be wearing them at WDW.

Also, after reading through the rest of this thread I just found out why I no longer saw the Shock thread. I rather enjoyed some of the funnier posts. Its like a wreck you just can't help but look at, bummer!

Back to the stories please and thanks!

Here's one I grabbed from another forum I post on talking about customers... I believe it's from a DL cast member, at least that where it alludes to ;) I'm not quite sure what to make out from it though!

Ready to be fairly disgusted at the behavior of some people in a magical, happy place located somewhere in Southern California?

Recently, this "kingdom" has become home to a motely group of pirates who run about causing friendly mayhem and interacting with guests. Now, there is a rather famous leader of said pirates who you may remember seeing in a summer blockbuster hit having something to do with the ocean and eyeliner...

Ahem, all buttcovering "vageness" aside...

Earlier today, the lead pirate (lets call him Jack, hypothetically :p ) encountered a guest with a lovely lanyard. Somehow, either by unclipping the lanyard or having it given to him by the guest (I'm unsure) he came into possession of said lanyard and scampered off with it, as pirates do. On the way, of course, he gave it to a "character host" to give back to the guest he took it from. Probably because he realized the angry wrath he had set into motion but more likely was that he wasnt really stealing it in the first place, since this is a magical family friendly kingdom and he was, by some design or another, an employee.

So, instead of getting their lanyard back by waiting through the interaction, the guests storm off across the entire park to the enterance where myself and another employee were working for the parade. The husband of the party complains that a "character" had stolen something from him. Once he revealed it was a pirate we understood a bit better. He refused to wait in line behind "eight (!!)" people at City Hall and then leapt at a passing security member.

I was able to catch most of what went on before the parade started. The wife was given back her lanyard because apparently they'd just gone missing when the host tried to find them to bring it back. Nothing was missing or touched inside the little plastic sleeve. They then complained about the wasted time that they would never be able to get back because theyd decided to cross the entire park instead of asking for it back from the host who had it and was trying to give it back. Now, they used the fact that there was money inside (a couple dollar bills from what I surmised) to make the guest interaction a bigger deal and hollered and became red in the face over the "lost time" trying to retrieve it.

Up til this point we were all fairly amused. Jack and the pirates are funny and use piratey antics to interact and make magical memories for guests and are usually very well received. The fact that this "theft" was such a big deal made us laugh, until they were humored.

They wanted Jack fired, they wanted to file a police report with the city, and they wanted to complain a whole lot more. They were over compensated in the most disgusting of ways. Their entire vacation was compensated... the hotel, the food, the park tickets plus they were given passes to skip to the front of the line a few times on rides and some free merchandise.

I'm not sure what will come of Jack but our leads didn't think it boded well for him.

As for the guests, I saw them later that night during fireworks and the wife was complaining very loudly that someone had DARED ask her to move from the walkway to the viewing area!! :o

-facepalm-

As for our shoe licker...

There was nothing in her behavior that led anyone on the bus to believe she was anything but a child whose parents didn't give 2 cents as to what she was doing. They didn't give her the shoe to keep her from rolling on the floor...she was doing both whenever she chose to. None of the other 4 kids were behaving any better (fighting, hitting each other with their souveniers ..etc) and the parents were totally oblivious to all of it chatting with each other. They never even looked in the kids direction.

The kid was engaging in dangerous behavior. Rolling around and climbing in and out of her seat in a moving bus could have gotten her seriously injured. Licking on a filthy shoe you've been walking in all day...no need to explain the dangers there.

No matter why she was doing it, her parents should have at least attempted to stop it.
I just have to say something. The fact probably is that the kids were doing it on purpose, like one poster has already mentioned. Obviously they get no attention from the adults in their lives. I ache for those children, if I see chlidren (meaning not teenagers) misbehaving I would have probably got them involved in a game of I Spy or something. Just something. :confused3 I agree that the adults should have corrected the situation, but from what I read they dont care. That's just sad! :sad2:

I was working at the Barnstormer at the lapbar position and this woman came through with this very young child who was obviously too small to ride. Obviously the CM at the front of the ride wasn't doing their job because that kid did not meet the height requirement. Well one of the other CMs told the woman that she was sorry but her shild was too small to ride. Now I can understand this woman's frustration after waiting in line then being told she can't ride......but her reaction was uncalled for. She started SCREAMING!!!! There were all these children from ages 3 and up and she was saying "this is F-ing ridiculous!!!" Ever other word out of her mouth was a curse word! I couldn't believe not only was she saying these horrible words in front of ALL these children but also her own! My other thought was she should be mor concerned for her child's safety. I understand why she was mad but if her child got on that ride....he would of slid right out! It was nuts how she just freaked out!

The other is something I just posted on another thread but it was when a kid (11-14 yrs old) smacked my butt. He smirked and laughed with his friend. I trieed to do the mature thing by trying to report him but the Cm said they couldn't do anything, only the security guard could allow me to press charges (and there were none to be found!) What I really wanted to do was turn around and smack that smirk right off that kids face..........but I didn't and he got away with it....

this is something that happened to someone at my mom's work. They were down there for a convention for work and they had brought their kids and his kid I believe is 7 or 8 and a tour group just knocked him down to the ground and never apologized or anything.

That kid really better watch out because there are a lot of abuse victims that would have punched him in the face/slapped him as a gut reaction.

I can not believe those jerks at DL that got their whole trip comped. I have no idea why Disney does that! They probably caused that CM to get fired too. :furious:

So Sad for me that I did not realized at the time that my actions would put me in this category. Well here it goes. I wanted a frozen lemonade and the only place to fined one was at one of those carts near SM. Well the card swipe was not working and we had no cash. I blew my top, I (conventily) do not remember what I said or how loud I became. However, when I saw my DH turn red and distance himself from me I realized how bad I was being. Shut my mouth reminded myself where I was and apoligzed to the vender.

I felt real bad. Husband and I went to guest services and bought disney dollars and went back for my frozen lemonade.

I have been a teenager and had someone smack my butt. I have also been an adult and had more than one adult do it too. I am a mature women now and would still probably turn around and smack someone who did that. That teenager is the one who when he is 21 goes out drinking with his buddies and thinks it is even more fun to do because he has done it numerous times. There have been posts on the old shock thread about guys grabbing womens breasts and then acting like they did not do anything. One told of a guy reaching down in side her top and when she hollered he said he thought it was his wife. But there was not a "wife" anywhere in sight. You will probably have to deal with this again. Do not let them get away next time. Throw a temper tantrum if you have to. :rotfl2:

Just to add some thoughts about the child licking the shoes having possible autism...let's not diagnose without ever having met the child. Some kids just like their tongue on everything. Sounds gross...but it's the truth. Licking something, no matter how gross, doesn't necessarily indicate a disorder. I was "wild" when I was a kid and would put things in my mouth, lick the most random things, etc. I wasn't autistic. Sometimes kids do stuff because they know they are getting attention. I used to be that weird kid licking the shoe...because I knew people were looking at me and giving me all kinds of reactions. Score! I got exactly what I was wanting: attention. ;)

Something I have been thinking through this whole thread was this sounded a lot like behavior to get attention. Obviously the parents were not paying any attention as they were letting her roll up and down the aisles. Then the licking the shoe confirmed that observation. Sounds to me like the child was trying anything to get attention.

We thought this was weird. We were on the bus from MK to POP and it was crowded. There was this mom and young daughter asleep in her arms sitting (we were standing right in front of her) and she kept saying this over and over and over again, loudly too:

"you are ok, you are so ok, you are so okay you dont know how ok you are....you are ok, you are so ok, you are so okay you dont know how ok you are" This was from the time the bus pulled out until we got back to POP

We (and the entire bus of people) were trying so hard not to laugh because the kid was asleeps so who the heck was she talking to??

THANK YOU!! It's gets so old to see kids automatically diagnosed with something just because of their behavior. Believe it or not, there are just some brats out there with no excuse.

And the congregation said Amen!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

NO WAY is that to be blamed on ADHD. My son had severe ADHD and NEVER behaved like that in puiblic--even if I would have allowed it he wouldn't have, it's just not ADHD type behavior. Well, maybe the rolling but not the show licking. I have never met an ADHD kid who would have. ANd a LOT of my sons friends were ADHD--he went to a private school for motivated kids with learning disabilities, cognitive disorders, and emotional problems, so there's not much we haven't seen.

In all honesty if you told me the child was Autistic, that I might believe, but not ADHD.

Anne

Anne, are you being sarcastic? My son is autistic and we do not allow that type of behavior either! We don't attribute, we don't make allowances, we don't enable, we just nip it in the bud. Please let's not perpetuate a stereotype.

Final comment on the dead horse...it's not the end of the story when they do allow it b/c they are all over the parks. They just don't officially allow them. The original issue was people being upset over other people wearing them. My point has always been....why? The response has been b/c people are obnoxious.

If no one ever broke the rules Rosa Parks would have never sat on the front of the bus!

Final words on the issue....sorry for those who were bothered by the discussion.

Okaaaay... a person has spent a little too much time in their "Happy Place" when they start comparing the prohibition of heelys at WDW to the civil rights struggle in the '60s. :rolleyes1

People behaving badly in a restaurant: (not children)

One of the nights we were at WDW this summer, we made ADRs for California Grill. We happened to get a WONDERFUL view of the castle, and Seven Sea Lagoon. We also got a not-so-wanted good view of an odd couple.

A husband and wife were seated right next to us, both in either their upper fifties, or lower sixties. They are both wearing basic tourist clothing (she wore shorts that were just a bit too short for her and a t-shirt, both bright red. And he wore a baggy grey shirt and shorts), to a business casual restaurant. However, we didn't think too much of it since we, too, made a mistake with having the right "dress" for a restaurant a couple trips ago.

However,

As soon as they sat down, they started swearing their heads off at each other. Here they are, with one of the BEST views from the Resort, and they don't even appreciate it. Then, we come to find in hearing their conversation, they were celebrating their anniversary.

As the meal went on, they complained non-stop about the food. She made the most disgusted faces at the food placed in front of her and she rudely just shoved her plates across the table. People around us started noticing this behavior now, and found it hard not to stare.

Finally, I guess they started getting cold, because they decided to take out two resort pool towels and wrap themselves up. Now this made my whole family start cracking up, and now every table around them were looking at them with the most perplexed faces. :rotfl:

Now every time we go to a restaurant and it's a little chilly we remind ourselves of this little experiance and say, "oh darn, we forgot to bring our towels with us!" :rotfl: :lmao:

Mainly during the real Crowded times. What I don't understand is kids who think its OK to run and chase the rabbits/squirrels/birds etc. Like they have a HUNTING streak in them and want to KILL any Animal. :confused3 :grouphug: :furious: I have yelled at many a kid for doing this, and the parents look at me like I am nuts! :sad2:

Lol...I actually have a shirt that says "Stupid Kids Chase the Ducks". Just got it after the las trip ;)
