To me, this realization is SHOCKING.
I would buy myself one of these fancy pairs of rolling shoes but I understand that broken bones don't heal as well or as quickly for "old" people, so I'll just leave the hip replacements to the young whipper snappers who shant be wearing them at WDW.
I'm not quite sure what to make out from it though!Ready to be fairly disgusted at the behavior of some people in a magical, happy place located somewhere in Southern California?
Recently, this "kingdom" has become home to a motely group of pirates who run about causing friendly mayhem and interacting with guests. Now, there is a rather famous leader of said pirates who you may remember seeing in a summer blockbuster hit having something to do with the ocean and eyeliner...
Ahem, all buttcovering "vageness" aside...
Earlier today, the lead pirate (lets call him Jack, hypothetically) encountered a guest with a lovely lanyard. Somehow, either by unclipping the lanyard or having it given to him by the guest (I'm unsure) he came into possession of said lanyard and scampered off with it, as pirates do. On the way, of course, he gave it to a "character host" to give back to the guest he took it from. Probably because he realized the angry wrath he had set into motion but more likely was that he wasnt really stealing it in the first place, since this is a magical family friendly kingdom and he was, by some design or another, an employee.
So, instead of getting their lanyard back by waiting through the interaction, the guests storm off across the entire park to the enterance where myself and another employee were working for the parade. The husband of the party complains that a "character" had stolen something from him. Once he revealed it was a pirate we understood a bit better. He refused to wait in line behind "eight (!!)" people at City Hall and then leapt at a passing security member.
I was able to catch most of what went on before the parade started. The wife was given back her lanyard because apparently they'd just gone missing when the host tried to find them to bring it back. Nothing was missing or touched inside the little plastic sleeve. They then complained about the wasted time that they would never be able to get back because theyd decided to cross the entire park instead of asking for it back from the host who had it and was trying to give it back. Now, they used the fact that there was money inside (a couple dollar bills from what I surmised) to make the guest interaction a bigger deal and hollered and became red in the face over the "lost time" trying to retrieve it.
Up til this point we were all fairly amused. Jack and the pirates are funny and use piratey antics to interact and make magical memories for guests and are usually very well received. The fact that this "theft" was such a big deal made us laugh, until they were humored.
They wanted Jack fired, they wanted to file a police report with the city, and they wanted to complain a whole lot more. They were over compensated in the most disgusting of ways. Their entire vacation was compensated... the hotel, the food, the park tickets plus they were given passes to skip to the front of the line a few times on rides and some free merchandise.
I'm not sure what will come of Jack but our leads didn't think it boded well for him.
As for the guests, I saw them later that night during fireworks and the wife was complaining very loudly that someone had DARED ask her to move from the walkway to the viewing area!!
-facepalm-
I just have to say something. The fact probably is that the kids were doing it on purpose, like one poster has already mentioned. Obviously they get no attention from the adults in their lives. I ache for those children, if I see chlidren (meaning not teenagers) misbehaving I would have probably got them involved in a game of I Spy or something. Just something.peachgirl said:As for our shoe licker...
There was nothing in her behavior that led anyone on the bus to believe she was anything but a child whose parents didn't give 2 cents as to what she was doing. They didn't give her the shoe to keep her from rolling on the floor...she was doing both whenever she chose to. None of the other 4 kids were behaving any better (fighting, hitting each other with their souveniers ..etc) and the parents were totally oblivious to all of it chatting with each other. They never even looked in the kids direction.
The kid was engaging in dangerous behavior. Rolling around and climbing in and out of her seat in a moving bus could have gotten her seriously injured. Licking on a filthy shoe you've been walking in all day...no need to explain the dangers there.
No matter why she was doing it, her parents should have at least attempted to stop it.
I agree that the adults should have corrected the situation, but from what I read they dont care. That's just sad!

I trieed to do the mature thing by trying to report him but the Cm said they couldn't do anything, only the security guard could allow me to press charges (and there were none to be found!) What I really wanted to do was turn around and smack that smirk right off that kids face..........but I didn't and he got away with it....

Obviously the CM at the front of the ride wasn't doing their job because that kid did not meet the height requirement. Well one of the other CMs told the woman that she was sorry but her shild was too small to ride. Now I can understand this woman's frustration after waiting in line then being told she can't ride......but her reaction was uncalled for. She started SCREAMING!!!! There were all these children from ages 3 and up and she was saying "this is F-ing ridiculous!!!" Ever other word out of her mouth was a curse word! I couldn't believe not only was she saying these horrible words in front of ALL these children but also her own! My other thought was she should be mor concerned for her child's safety. I understand why she was mad but if her child got on that ride....he would of slid right out! It was nuts how she just freaked out!

mking624 said:Just to add some thoughts about the child licking the shoes having possible autism...let's not diagnose without ever having met the child. Some kids just like their tongue on everything. Sounds gross...but it's the truth. Licking something, no matter how gross, doesn't necessarily indicate a disorder. I was "wild" when I was a kid and would put things in my mouth, lick the most random things, etc. I wasn't autistic. Sometimes kids do stuff because they know they are getting attention. I used to be that weird kid licking the shoe...because I knew people were looking at me and giving me all kinds of reactions. Score! I got exactly what I was wanting: attention.![]()

LindsayDunn228 said:THANK YOU!! It's gets so old to see kids automatically diagnosed with something just because of their behavior. Believe it or not, there are just some brats out there with no excuse.
ducklite said:NO WAY is that to be blamed on ADHD. My son had severe ADHD and NEVER behaved like that in puiblic--even if I would have allowed it he wouldn't have, it's just not ADHD type behavior. Well, maybe the rolling but not the show licking. I have never met an ADHD kid who would have. ANd a LOT of my sons friends were ADHD--he went to a private school for motivated kids with learning disabilities, cognitive disorders, and emotional problems, so there's not much we haven't seen.
In all honesty if you told me the child was Autistic, that I might believe, but not ADHD.

The original issue was people being upset over other people wearing them. My point has always been....why? The response has been b/c people are obnoxious.
If no one ever broke the rules Rosa Parks would have never sat on the front of the bus!
Final words on the issue....sorry for those who were bothered by the discussion.
