Guests at resorts

We are going to Orlando in 31 more days and my brother in law and his friend will be staying the AKL, we are renting a vaction home. He had mentioned that they would like for us to come visit them on one of the days that we will be there, and hang out at their pool with them.
I told him that I *think* this is a no-no. Can guests of the resorts invite non-resort guests to the pool?

He swears it's fine, but I wanted to see if you all knew if that was okay or not.

You're always welcome to visit the resort, but the pool is reserved for those guests that are actually staying in the resort. He can always check at the front desk of AKL and perhaps, if they have low occupancy, they might allow it, but I doubt it.

As I and many others have stated in the past, just like when I stay at Howard Johnson's etc, I have had guests. I ask at the front desk and they always say yes. We are seldom there mid summer or kids breaks.
Last visit (June), I talked to the lifeguards at the pools of AKL and SAB, and mentioned that I read on this board, that if they think it's too busy, they can turn a guest down. Two of the guys said they read that on this board too, and it was news to them. They indicated if it was alright with the front desk, they can't think of any reason for them to say no, unless it was a day that they ask to see all passes. In that case, the one lifeguard suggested we ask for extra keys at the front desk. One of them said that if the outside guest was doing something unsafe, or something they thought he shouldn't be doing, they would ask them to get out of the pool, just like the regular guests.
So once again, it's up to you..if you are comfortable with your hotel OKing it, then go for it. If you'd rather go by how people on the board feel, then meet them elsewhere.
