Has anyone ever taken a complaint to management or guest services?

I complained once at Liberty Tree Tavern. The server did not bring out my pre-ordered vegetarian meal and then didn't come back until everyone else was finished for me to ask for it. I didn't want anything as I had filled up on salad, rolls and dessert, but the manager refunded my whole meal which I thought was above and beyond.

Do they really want to know - or is it just a damage limitation exercise?

Having been in food service for many years and knowing many in the Disney Dining, they truly want to know. Often it is a simple mistake or oversight that can become a major issue if not addressed. Your bringing it to the managers attention allows them to fix the problem. In your case it may be that the server is not up to their standards, but it could also be that they had too many tables to take care of, they had a table of 10 who all needed the check split right then, any of hundreds of little things that cause problems. Now they can look at it and fix it. Poor managers and businesses dread customer feedback, but the ones who are trying to do things right desire it. Don't be afraid to tell them when things are great also.

That is very interesting. Well put. I normally would never complain but she was so very unappologetic about the whole thing that I had to. Would never want to get anyone in trouble.

we just got back yesterday and had two bad eating experiences, firstly we went to Wolfgang puck and my DD18 ordered chicken strips, she ate 2 but when she came to the third one she realised that it was totally raw in the middle, we complained to a server who seemed indifferent and offered to bring her some more. My DD said she didn't want to eat anything as it had put her off, so the server said she didn't know what else to do as we were on the dining plan and hadn't paid cash. Eventually she came back and gave us 1 QS credit. No apology or anything.

Then we ate at The Wave at the Contemporary, this was just awful, firstly whilst we were waiting to be seated someone came over and asked us if we would like a drink whilst we were waiting (which I thought was nice) when she came back she charged us $10 for 3 cokes, I explained we were on the dining plan, but she said that these particular drinks were not part of the meal (would have been nice if she had mentioned this before) Then when we were seated, our next server said oh I see you have drinks already so I won't ask what you want... then went away without taking our order and didn't return. We had to call her over after 20 minutes. Once our food arrived, we were really unimpressed, the food was cold and tasted terrible. The server left us there for almost 50 minutes before coming to clear the plates and asking us if we wanted dessert. Once we had placed our desssert order, we were left waiting another 30 minutes  My DD9 had ordered an ice cream sundae which when it arrived had completely melted so it was just a bowl of liquid. The server didn't return and after waiting for another 30 minutes I went to the front desk to ask if we could pay and leave as we had been waiting around for a very long time. We were told to go back to our table and she would send someone over. The server arrived and had a really bad attitude, she said to my DD9 'so I guess you don't really like ice-cream huh?' I told her that it was melted when it arrived but she ignored me. We didn't get a drink refill at all during our meal and my DD18 was really thirsty, she asked if she could have a drink to take away and the server said that we would have to wait whilst she got me another bill! I told her not to bother and that we would just leave - she had the cheek to ask me to write in how much tip I was leaving her, but I just wrote cash tip in the space. When she brought the final bill back I really begrudged having to leave a tip at all, but I know its frowned upon, so I just left her a 10% tip which I believe is the amount to leave for bad service.

Now I'm home, I really wished that I had complained to the managers, but at the time I just wanted to get out of there and get on with our plans IYKWIM?

I suppose I've left it too late now, but they are definitely 2 places we will never go to again.

Sorry to hijack your thread with such a big whinge!!
