Guest Services Autograph Question

I have searched and read other threads :)

I understand that I can drop off items at guest services and request that characters sign them. Though, I have a few specific questions:

1) The items I want signed are plates (plastic and/or glass). Will a classic sharpie be best for these? Is another marker better?

2) How many items are we allowed to get signed?

3) If we don't include markers, will they just sign with a normal sharpie?

4) I read that a nice and appreciated gesture is including candy with the request. How much candy? Is it per item or all together?

5) Should items be in a bag when turned in at the guest services? If so, should they be in separate bags or all together?

Thank you!:flower3:

On our cruise this past oct I dropped off 4 pillowcases to have signed as a surprise for our four kids. We had two rooms so we did two per room. When I dropped them off I didn't have them in bags or anything. I put a bag of candy for the cast members in each bag (Halloween Hershey mix). I meant to buy color sharpies to put in the pillowcases but forgot prior to our trip. When we recieved them back they turned out great! Two of the pillowcases were done in color sharpies and two were done in just black sharpies. The kids loved them! All the main characters and the princesses had signed them. Makes a great keepsake!

On the Dream this past September, we were told we could do one item per child... I had taken up 4 items because I wanted to get 2 picture mats signed in addition to the kids pillow cases. The CM at Guest Services told me she would "do me a favor" and get all of it signed. I put each item in a big zip lock bag with a sharpie/fabric marker and some candy.

The items were returned, minus the candy, the last night of our cruise.

I think it is a great service, and I hope Disney will continue it.

I just love how both the mats and the pillow cases turned out.

As far as the amount of candy.. I did one of those $1 sleeves of mini candy bars you can get at Walmart per item. I think they usually have 8-10 candy bars per pack, and they may be $1.50 now with everything going up.

I am not sure what would work best on plates. I would think Sharpie would wipe off glass very easily, and I am not sure they would allow paint pens.

We have done the Jr. Encyclopedia of Disney Characters books and vinylmations on two separate trips. We have two girls, so we only had two items done each time. Wee had them in bags with sharpies (colored), and candy. We included chocolate and non-chocolate items.

I have heard that fabric paint markers have been used for pillowcases, so I would guess that they would allow other types.

I'd be weary using sharpie on glass. Plastic should stick. Buy a few plates at a Dollar store and test it out. You don't want a smudgy mess of a disapointment!

Thank you all very much!

Yeah, I'm hoping the plates I'm wanting to get signed turn out to be plastic, the person didn't list what type of material they are.

Hrm, well, we don't have kids, it's just me and DH. I was wanting to get 3 items signed: 2 character specific plates (stitch & eeyore) and a placemat for all the characters. I was planning to hang these items up on my wall after the cruise :)

So, do you think 3 items would be too much?

We were on the Wonder in December and took a Mexican Riviera shirt that I purchased on board (with a black fabric sharpie), a small black vinylmation (with a silver sharpie) and a large red vinylmation (with a black sharpie). I did take them in bags, but guest services took them out of the bags, filled out their form and put everything together in a different bag. As far as the candy, I took a lunch bag about 1/3 full with various candies - after halloween sale. I had also used some of the same candies in the FE gifts for kids.

My DH and I traveling solo bought a large white vinyl at DL and handed guest services the box the vinyl was in with markers in the box (colorful metallic sharpies) and I wrote our room # on the top of the box. GS filled out the form and taped it to the top of the box. I forgot the candy (oops!) but we got an awesome vinyl signed in a bunch of colors front and back... It looks awesome!

You are permitted 2 items per cabin.
If you don't enclose markers, you will get them signed with black sharpies.
DCL has a form you complete indicating which character signatures you want (all available, princesses, classic, etc). They will bag your item (s), markers, and form and send them to the characters.
Candy is a nice touch--how much/what kind is totally up to you.

Awe ... so there goes my 3 item idea :( Do you think they might let it happen, since for 2 of the items we only want one specific character to sign them? (One plate is Eeyore and the other is Stitch).

I think if you get there early and ask nicely they will let you :) It is certainly worth a try!

Okay, thank you! I will definately try! So, do you think I should do this as soon as we board?

I'm trying to make this a surprise for DH :) He knows nothing of this autograph service. If they won't do 3 items, I can just wait to get mine signed for the next time we're on a cruise ^_^

Yes I would do it right as you board. I would have him go set up by the pool while you do it if you want to keep it a secret. The earlier you go the more likely they will take the extra item.

You are a genius! The High Tea at Palos on our cruise is already 'sold out' online and we were going to go and try to get that AS SOON AS WE BOARD.
I could tell him I have to take care of something else while he goes and does that. PERFECT!

I'm guessing Guest Services is on the main deck where we board onto?

I;ve never seen Eeyore on any Disney ship....you might be lucky, I guess.

I've heard that, even if the character isn't on this ship, they :wizard: magically :wizard: get that character to sign.

I suppose well find out :goodvibes
