Hi there, I got a voicemail last night saying I needed to contact Disney Guest Services about my upcoming November hotel reservation. They left the phone number to call back as (407) 939-2744. I called last night, but the department must have been gone for the night because it only allowed to leave a message, and then this morning I cannot get through to a single Disney guest service line. Every single number answers “all circuits are busy” and then hangs up. Does anyone know why they typically would reach out? I go to Disney quite alot and have never received a call beforehand for any reason.

Where are you supposed to be staying?

I just saw somewhere (Wine & Dine thread?) that someone got upgraded from PO to Yacht Club for W&D weekend. That might be it.
Ah okay, well that is not too bad of an outcome. I was worried being just three weeks away, that they wanted to make some change that was going to cause me a headache to reschedule 😂

Based on previous posts on the disboard, people have been contacted by disney guest services to ask if you can switch resorts. Maybe you will have an awesome upgrade! fingers crossed & keep us updated

I finally got ahold of someone at that phone number, they said there was an inventory issue with the rooms at POR, no other details. They then offered me Boardwalk, Yacht, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian as a free upgrade. So I took Grand Floridian, since I have wanted to stay there for a while! I am so excited!

Epic upgrade!!!! Congrats!

I feel like I hear a lot about overbooking recently both on hotel side and dvc side. Is this a typical rate or is this a product of the current environment? If not normal do we know if it’s IT thing where it releases too much inventory or rooms out of service/hotels pulled offline for staffing issues?

I have a hunch that all rooms are still not open due to staffing shortages when they assumed they would be full go. Thus they evenly "spread out" guests across the whole resort. With fewer discounts, the higher priced deluxes have more rooms available and more staff so this is where people are moved. This also makes those who get the upgrades happy and is a win win for everybody even though Disney doesn't make as much money. A certain percentage of those moved will like it so much that future trips might be at same deluxe. We went deluxe several years ago after starting value, then mod. Wife and I always rent points or get discounts just to stay deluxe now that kids are grown.

At least where the campground is concerned, the speculation is that they did not remove the group bookings out of inventory before they opened the regular bookings to the public. They were very overbooked that weekend (200 sites) and willing to move people pretty much anywhere with availability. We are local (1 hour away) and could be flexible not to camp, but people who come with their campers for a few weeks can't just easily be moved for a few nights. They first offered POR because there is parking room to park the campers on the lot for the 3 overbooked nights, but then called back and offered Deluxe if we would leave the camper at home and stay for the whole stay at another resort, we had a 5 night stay booked.

They still haven't opened the booking window for 2023 and usually they start booking 500 days out at Ft Wilderness. By the time shorter stays for the Halloween window open up, it's already fully booked up by the long stays. Last year they didn't open up at 500 days either, one morning it just popped open, which is how I even got Halloween by chance. But it's all good, I'm looking forward to the treehouse and they are supposed to make sure we have access to the Fort for the festivities that weekend.

We're at Riverside from 11/7 to 11/10 and were looking forward to it....now I'm hoping I get a call about an inventory issue LOL...Would love to stay at the Poly for the same price

If there was issue with overbooking campsites and they can move those guests to POR I wonder if the POR moves are to allow the campers to move over? I also know on dvc side there has been some moving due to construction but I also believe there was glitch for Grand Californian that released too much inventory so maybe combo of both lol.

Could be. They told me on the phone their inventory issue was the Oct 29th, 30th and 31st. But they could have more dates with issues like that, my reservation happened to be Oct 27-Nov1.
