We have a preferred pass voucher but I guess since its not a pass yet you have to pay to park. When you turn it into an annual pass an hour later, can you get reimbursed for the parking or is that a fee you just have to swallow? It doesn't seem right to have to pay for parking but its clearly stated does not include parking on first trip. But a friend said they were allowed to park with just voucher.

There's your answer. Maybe your friend went after 6:00 PM. when parking was free.

If you go to the park just to get your pass and are there less than 2 hours, you can be reimbursed at the parking HUB. You must bring your parking stub with you to the HUB so they can validate the time you entered.

But free parking with your AP does not start until you have your actual pass.

No, not after 6 so guess they were just being nice to him. I thought I could pop in the night before and get passes and photos taken care of after 6pm to save on parking and to save on time when hit parks next morning but the parks close at 6pm. Wow, that seems early.

Oh well, guess no way around it unless lucky. Thought I'd ask in case it might be a commonly experienced thing where they let you through anyway but guess my friend got lucky. I know back when I didn't always get charged for parking at RPH and they say there is a charge for that so, you never know.

Update on this. We showed our 4 preferred pass vouchers upon entry to parking garage and said "we are starting these today" and they printed out a parking pass that said "complimentary" on it. So, it may not be so uncommon to get free parking even on your first trip. FYI.

I got free parking when I showed my vouchers passes from AAA - before they were real annual passes

I just renewed my pass that had expired 11/20/06. i went 12/3/06 and the parking attendent told me it had expired and i showed him the flier i got in the mail about renewal and that was the reason i was there and he let me go right on thru. :smooth:

I understand that sometimes they allow you in but I just want to make sure that everyone knows that when that happens, it is the exception not the rule. i just don't want anyone to go and expect to get free parking and then being angry at the parking attendants for just following the rules.

Yep, but it couldn't hurt to ask. I'm guessing they believe that really a prefered pass that includes parking really should include it for every visit. The rules might be around to keep someone from hanging unto an unexpiring voucher forever to have unlimited parking years before activate pass. A family of 4 holding 4 preferred vouchers don't seem suspicious so they let them in. Our attendent didn't really act like he was doing us a big favor so maybe, while its on the ticket that you should pay for first visit, guest relations has told them to let people in rather than hold up the line. I wouldn't have argued if they'd asked for parking money. Sometimes written rules are commonly not adhered to if its deemed to bother the guest. Not that I know how common this parking thing is but Disney posts signs about outside food and we all know you can pack junior some sandwiches and drinks and not have any problems bringing them in.
