Guest Book Alternative

I was wondering if anyone had any ides for an alternative for the Guest Book at the Reception.

I've seen quite a few alternatives...

You can find signature plates and signiture picture mats for various sizes. I'm more partial to the picture mats than a plate or bowl or dish of some kind.

Also, I saw in a wedding magazine recently a very cute "decoration" idea where a clothes line was strung with cut out hearts hung up with clothes pins (? is that what they're called, lol.) There was a table with pens and a basket to put the hearts in... This seems like a great idea especially if you're a scrapbooker (like me!) Plus you don't have to do hearts, you can do any shape you like.

My sister got married in August, and while they did have a guest book, they also bought a large frame with a wide matting and put a picture of them in the frame. Then, they got people to sign the matting with the intention of replacing the picture with a wedding picture later.

They got it at Michael's and people wrote good luck wishes all around the matting. It was a nice keepsake.

A friend of mine had a Polaroid camera set up and had guests take pictures of themselves and write a note on the bottom of the picture well wishing the Bride and Groom. It was a big hit! She later took the pictures and put them in a scrap book.

I've seen another idea on in a PJ here to get a photobook made from pictures of both of you and have everyone sign that. I've looked into it and you can get a 20-30 page personalized photobook from about $40.

We did a large silver tray that had a pen you could use on metal to enscribe it...It came out really cute and I'm looking forward to using it at dinners in the future

We're actually doing this. Our photographer offered it as an option for our engagement photos. The engagement session was free, so we're just paying for the guest book. I didn't really see the need for an engagement session since we are not including photos with the invitation. So, this is a great way to have some great photos taken and then displayed creatively for everyone to see. Plus, it's a cool keepsake. I think we're going to use a silver sharpie for the signatures and well wishes.

I think we would have gone with this had we not been offered the other option. They also sell a similar book for digital photos.

I think the photobook is a really neat idea. We bought our guest book online, but I can't quite recall the website right now. I'll post it if I think of it!

maybe you were talking about my PJ? I got an 8x8 photobook from shutterfly, and it came out really cute! its about 20 pages (we added a few blank pages at the end to make more room for people to sign) and you can customize each page with different layouts, fonts, colors, borders, etc. We're going to have a little instruction card on the table telling people to sign wherever they want.

the pics in the book are from when we first met, our family and bridal party, and other various pics, with captions. not only will it serve as our guest book, but the guests might get a little bit more background about me and DF. And best of all, the books are priced very reasonably!

A different kind of guest book is from www.guestbookstore.com. I've seen these more often at bridal showers, but finally saw them pop up at a wedding in July. It was fun to do during the cocktail hour, as well as looking at other's guest book entries.
Currently I'm debating between this and the signed matted frame...

Yes! That's the one we have! I think this will be a good thing for our guests to work on before dinner.

I will be buying white fabric and cutting them into half triangle's and with black pens I will have people write on the fabric and then I will put them together and make a quilt for our bed. something different

as we are getting married on Halloween, on our last trip to Disney we went to the Art of Disney and purchased a signed custom drawing of Jack and Sally with our names and wedding date. I am taking it to be matted and we will have guests sign so we can have it framed after the wedding. As we are huge Nightmare Before Christmas fans - this was the perfect solution for us!

since my df and i met at the boardwalk and are also being married there, we are going to the giftshop there and buying one of the watercolor pics of the resort and we'll have our guests sign the large matte around it. it will be the perfect picture to hang in our home. we already have the watercolor of the luna park pool at the boardwalk (the exact place we met) hanging in our living room!

We bought matted prints of various Disney couples that we are naming our tables after and using as table cards. We are going to have our guests sign those instead of using a guestbook.

I bought postcards and had my guests fill them out and my Maid of Honour mailed them to us. It was a nice little surprise for us when we got back among all the bills.

I also custom made pages for my friends wedding based on the pages by guestbookstore.com. I made it camping themed because they are very outdoorsy. We then had all the guests fill out the pages and created the book for her without her knowing. It went over really well and she said it was her favorite gift.

I love the idea about creating your own pages like from the guestbook store. I love their pages but would like to customize them more. My friend got the original pages for her husbands 50th birthday party and it was a big hit.
