Guest attacks security at Disneyland - makes you think about how safe it is...

You're funny, like you know what you're talking about!! Do you honestly think there will be a big corporate meeting because a drunk was restrained at the park? Seriously, with all the millions of people that visit the parks, they deal with similiar incidents on a somewhat regular basis. "All options will be explored"... you're killing me

In response to the first response. Disney Corp. is and will make the time to address this. The YouTube video shot to over a million views within three days of the incedent. It's way over viral at this point and the incident is an international news event. All options will be explored including termination of the security guard and public statements. I hope his termination is not implemented. I was there and the man was on more things other than alcohol, if at all, judging from his speech! It was a sad day that is not being over looked and being taken VERY seriously, FYI!

This! He needs to not be in security at all. That person could have been subdued easily, especially after the first spray when he was down. Security should have been taught the proper restraining holds and they should carry restraints ( plastic ties made for easy carrying work great instead of metal cuffs ) the CMs handled the crowd horribly as well. Bet there are some special training meetings coming up pronto to cover the outcome and how it could have been handled better!

He's a security guard not a peace officer, there are only certain things he can do without breaking the law and getting himself in trouble. IF this man was on some sort of substance than he may not have been able to restrain him due to that alone. Obviously the pepper spray wasn't affecting him. My father in law was (key word was) a police officer who's back was severely injured by a man on a substance that threw him into a fence. As for putting him in cuffs or plastic ties, that could fall under unlawfully restraining a person since he is not a peace officer.(not sure what the law says about that) I can pepper spray someone who is harming me but have not right to restrain that person.
As for the person making the statement about him spending the night in jail, he was cited and released probably didn't even make it out of booking.

Every state is different and it is incumbent upon everyone to know the laws in their state.

In Florida, the security guy could have lawfully restrained him (physically or with a restraint) after the guy took a swing at him.

This happened in cali, so I can't say with certainty what the laws are there. Although generally they favor the criminal and leave the citizen to hang out to dry. California generally operates under a two class citizen system, only police, elected officials and criminals seem to have rights
