My daughter's friend is coming with us. She has 2 brain tumors and sometimes tires easily. Is there an equivalent at Universal to Disney's Guest Assistance Card that she can get? Also, if there is a card, is it good for both parks?
Thank-you
PS We are bringing documentation.

We've used those cards a few times. Just stop by guest services and they can give you one. One thing to note is that unlike Disney where you walk right into the Fast Pass entrance, if the wait time for the attraction exceeds 30 minutes, the team member at the entrance will take the card and write on it a return time for you to come back and use the Express Entrance. If the wait time is less than 30 minutes, they will let you right in. Some team members are sticklers for the rules and we've had to get the card signed off/initialed when we return in order to use the pass at another attraction.

... but is there anything necessary for a Guest Assistance card?

I'm undergoing tests for hip issues and standing for extended periods is problematic. I was thinking of trying to get a GAC and if they do the time thing, that would be great -- can roll with the ECV until time. :-)

So if you stay on site and have expess passes you prolly wouldn't need a card ??????I ask as next year I will be going with a group of special needs folks( 8) and we will stay on site !!!

No experience with the Guest Assistance card, but Express Pass isn't good at FJ or RRR so that would be a reason I would think to go ahead and get the card. :goodvibes

I got the Guest assistance pass this summer after I broke a toe. It will let you go in through the same lane as express pass and if you need to avoid stairs it will get you to the elevator. I was there in July and no one ever made me return if the wait was long. No one even wrote on my form which they are supposed to but oh well. It was a life saver as I was still able to ride FJ without climbing stairs and waiting for hours. :thumbsup2

Our family used a GAC in May and we had similar experiences as you describe. In several cases, the CM at the ride entrance would radio to someone and we would be brought around through the exit to the front of the line.

Also, unlike Express Pass, the GAC can be used on FJ and the other rides that do not accept express passes.

Where did you get this card? Do they have a specific Guest Services area? Is a doctors note needed (it's not at Disney). Is the pass good for both parks, or do you need one for each? Is the pass good for your entire party (4 of us)? My son has severe autism and the GAC at Disney has truly saved our vacations! Sorry for all these questions! Just starting to plan for 2012!

Disney will give an AP one good for 2 months and renew it again every 2 months. Noot sure if US does the same.

We went to the Guest Services window to the right of the main gates at IoA and the gentleman there asked the nature of my issue and wrote up the specifics - no stairs, standing. No doc note needed... just wanted to get an idea of what the disability was so they could make sure I was taken care of. It was good for our whole group (3 adults, one child).

We had 50/50 with being put in the Express line v. coming back later - which I had no problem with. For Jurassic Park and Pteradon Flyers, the wait was an hour so the person at the start of the line wrote a time on my GAC and we went to eat or sit and relax while we waited... MUCH better than standing.

HTH!

Thrilled to find this info here, as my mom is suffering with 2 herniated discs and is really stressing about standing in line during our November trip. I knew about the Disney GAC, but now I can assure her our visit to US will be okay too!

My 68 year old Father-in-law has colon cancer and will be riding in a scooter or wheelchair during our visit. He cannot walk long distances, stand for an extended period or climb stairs. Would he qualify for a card? We will be a party of 8, would we need to split up?

Sorry, didn't see your question about splitting up. That part I don't know, sorry. I know at Disney, I think the limit is 6 to a GAC card.
