Guess What? We're Going to Valdosta!! A May 2012 PTR! 06/06-TR Link Posted!

First of all, I think it's so cool that you guys are participating in the TOT 10-miler!:yay::thumbsup2 It looks like so much fun, especially getting the oppurtunity to run through DHS at night.

That Cinderella dress and shoes are adorable! I think it's cool, too, because you don't see as many girls wearing that costume, they normally go for the traditional blue.

Mmm, dole whips....can't think of a better MK snack.

Hope you guys can last until Wishes...if you do I'm sure Mark and Jaden will enjoy it.

Thanks, Alicia! We're really excited about it! I can't wait to read about the EE! Maybe one day we can actually meet in person at one of the RunDisney races! You should really think about doing the Princess Half...it is SO much fun!

Yes, I was surprised that Jaden didn't want the traditional Cinderella dress!

I'm with ya on the Dole Whips...they are just SO darn good!

I'm hoping that we can too...unless they are just really tired, I think we will. And they love fireworks, so I think they would really enjoy it also!

Here for the fun. Noticed you had started a new PTR when you posted on Kristi's.

AKV really isn't that far from everything. MK is the longest drive. In the bus it's about 20 minutes, which at park closing seems a really long ride, but otherwise isn't bad at all. HS is about 12 minutes, Epcot about 15, and AK less than 5. And since you'll have a car you'll have that option too which will be nice. Of course you get the free parking at the parks if you decide to drive. It is such a wonderful resort, and there's a fabulous pool and water play area which I'm sure the kids will enjoy.

We had the school bread for the first time on our last trip, it was so delicious! It is now on the favorites list.

You have some wonderful plans, this trip is really going to be magical for them. Using the vinylmations for autographs is so perfect! That is going to be a great keepsake.

Hi, Pam! I'm so glad you found me!!

Thanks for all the info on the tavel times to the parks. That helps to know how long/short it will take us to get places!

We never got to check out the pool when we were there for the one night last year, so I'm really excited to hopefully get to spend some time there this go around!

I so hope that we get a chance to try the schoolbread. I don't think I've read one bad thing about it!! I've just gotta remember to out that in with our daily plans and make a mental note of it!!

You're more than welcome. Animal Kindgom Lodge is my Home, and ultimate favorite resort. If you have any questions feel free to ask. There's also a dedicated thread to it with tons of people who know the ins and outs and all the extras who are more than happy to answer questions. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2871510

You guys are going to have such a fabulous trip. Am I remembering correctly that you were originally going to stay at POR or was that for another trip?

I'll have to make sure and check that thread out! Thanks!

Gosh, you have a great memory...Yes, I had originally booked one of the Royal Guest rooms at POR, but we decided to cancel that and use our DVC points instead. I think Mark and Jaden are going to be SO excited about AKL, especially when they find out we'll have a savanna view room!

I don't mean to remember, things just stay with me. I dont mean to sound like a stalker :rolleyes1

Oh they'll definitely love having the savannah view, it is so cool to see the animals from your room. and Kidani has some animals Jambo House doesn't have which is fun.

Haha!! You don't sound like a stalker at all, just a good Dis'er who pays attention!!:thumbsup2

Oooh, that's good to know!!

Now, the night vision goggles are only at Jambo, right?

Alex and I are bringing our phones and my mom is bringing her Point and Shoot camera, so this year I'm actually going to have pictures with my EE report.:rotfl:
That'd be fun to meet at a runDisney event! I'm sure our paths will cross eventually; I know we're going to be doing more races. Maybe one day in the future I can convince my best friend or my mom to do the Princess with me. :wizard:

Thank you :)

As far as I know yes, the night vision goggles are only at Jambo, I have never heard anyone mention them being at Kidani, but I could be wrong. I'll ask the experts and get back to you.

Having a camera for EE will be awesome! I had mine with me both times I did the Princess and was so glad I did. The race went by so fast (I surely didn't think that at the time), that I'm glad I have those pics to look back on to help me remember.

Hey, maybe your Mom will kick butt at EE and decide to do the Princess with ya!!:thumbsup2

Thank you :)

Thanks so much, Pam! You rock!:)

If I’d stuck to my original plans, today’s park visit wouldn’t be happening. When this trip was in the early planning stages, we originally thought we’d only visit the 3 parks that would offer the most things to do for Mark & Jaden. When I looked at the attractions and rides for Hollywood Studios, I decided that we’d skip this park. But then of course, like always, I started thinking about the fact that this was Mark & Jaden’s first trip, and I really wanted them to be able to experience as much as possible. I realized that Mark would probably love Lights, Motors, Action and Indiana Jones, and Jaden would probably like to see Beauty & the Beast and Voyage of the Little Mermaid. And then there’s Muppet Vision and Toy Story Mania. So, after I finally came to my senses, we decided to go ahead and add one more day to the trip and that would allow us to visit all 4 parks. And this day just happens to be the day we’re scheduled to visit Hollywood Studios. (Since I don’t have a pic of the HS sign, this one will have to suffice):

I’m sure I’ve probably mentioned before, we’ve never made it to park opening here, so it would be nice if we made it this time, but if not that will be okay, too!

As far as dining, breakfast will be in the room, and lunch will be at whichever CS Mark and Jaden pick…possibly Toy Story Pizza Planet. We’ve only eaten there and the Backlot Express, so we don’t have a lot of experience with CS in HS. However, we do have an ADR for dinner at 50’s Prime Time, per Mike’s request. We ate here back in 2007 and he loved it, so it was the one place he asked if we could eat again. I enjoyed it just as much, so of course I obliged!

I am a little sad that they no longer have the Herb Fried Cheese on the menu, though!

At some point during the day, I hope to make a stop at Starring Rolls to pick up one of the delicious looking cupcakes that I've seen in so many TR's!

Fantasmic is scheduled for 9:00, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we get to see it as it would be our first time. We tried back in 2009—even booked a Fantasmic Dinner Package, but of course it got rained out which was disappointing. I’m hoping that all of us hold up long enough and Mother Nature is willing to let us see it for the first time…it would definitely be a perfect ending to the day!

Your day 4 & 5 look great!
Brad loves the Dole Whip too! I wouldn't even have known about them if it were not for seeing them on everyone's TR.
Jaden's Cinderella dress is so pretty. I can't wait to see pics of her all dressed up! I love the 1900 Park Fare dinner. We ate there in 2008, I wanted to back on this trip, but it didn't make the cut.
I think Mark & Jaden will enjoy DHS. You better get up early to get those TSM fastpasses!!!

Just found out from someone who was at Kidani last year that they did have 2pairs of the night vision goggles. There's a CM who makes sure everybody gets a turn with them. I think Jambo House has more pairs but I'm not positive.

DHS is sort of lacking on a lot of kid-friendly rides, but it's hard to pass up TSMM. But, it sounds like the two kids are old enough to sit through a couple shows, and the ones at DHS are very cool. :thumbsup2

Hope you are able to catch Fantasmic! this time around. Fingers crossed that there's no rain!

Day 4 and 5 look great! How surprised Jaden will be when she sees her dress and shoes! Herb fried cheese! That sounds wonderful! Too bad they don't have it anymore.

Don't worry, Amy--I really didn't know about the Dole floats until I had seen someone mention it here as well. When I think about it, it's amazing how much I've learned from these boards in general, but especially just from reading TR's!

Yes, I'm a little worried about the TSM fastpasses since I've read a few people say that they've been opening the park a little early to help diffuse the mad dash at park opening.

You're so awesome! Thanks so much! I can't wait to try those out! I think M&J will love them!

Believe it or not, I think M&J will be willing to ride Rock N Roller Coaster and maybe Tower of Terror. They love doing all the crazy rides at the fair, so I'm hoping they'll be the same way with the Disney rides!

Day 4 and 5 look great! How surprised Jaden will be when she sees her dress and shoes! Herb fried cheese! That sounds wonderful! Too bad they don't have it anymore.

Thanks! Yes, I think she will definitely be surprised as she hasn't mentioned it anymore!

I was very sad to see the Herb Fried Cheese gone...it was SO very yummy!!

Before I continue posting anymore plans, I thought I'd get up to date on sharing all the trip purchases we've made lately, and then share some pics from our family Easter gathering yesterday! I hope everyone had a Happy Easter, by the way!!

First up are the Summer Brights shirts that I got for all of us. They are so cute--the bright colors are awesome, but I especially love the "hidden Mickeys" that are thrown in there (though you can't really see them here):

Next is one of my favorite purhases so far, that I can't wait to wear...I ordered these from Etsy, and it turns out the seller is actually a DIS member as well. She did a great job, so if anyone needs her info, let me know:

Then there are the "swim collections" that I bought for each of them...
Jaden's includes a swim suit, flip flops, cover-up, beach towel and goggles:

And Mark's is the same, with the exception of the cover-up--instead I got him a rashguard shirt:

I also ordered a few new movies that we haven't seen that I thought would be good for them to watch on the road:

We actually pre-ordered the Muppets from the Disney Store, so when we went back to pick it up, I was able to use the coupon to pick up one more shirt each, as well as some earbuds for the DVD players:

And lastly, I ordered us some really cute pillowcases! Since I'm so picky about pillows, I always travel with mine, so when I saw these, I thought it would be cute to have in case M&J decide to take theirs as well:

Last night Mike and I had to make a Wal-Mart trip and they had some of the shampoo and conditioner that Mike uses and the soap that I use in travel size bottles, so we picked a few of those up. We also went ahead and grabbed a couple ponchos as well since they're much cheaper than buying them in Disney. I usually throw them in my park bag for when it rains and we just throw them away after we're done. It just works out better for us that way. I'm really hoping that we won't need very many of them on this trip though!

Lastly, I ran to Kohl's at lunch today to pick up some new shoes for Mark to wear in the parks. He'd picked them out online over the weekend, and I decided to try and see if they had them in store to save on shipping. Unfortunately, they didn't have any in stock, but I was able to order them on the in-store kisok and it gave me free shipping which was pretty cool! For some reason, the child refuses to wear shoes that lace even though he knows how to tie the laces! I dunno why, but instead of argue, I just got the ones that he asked for:

And before I forget, there is one last thing that I wanted to share with you...when I ordered my last shipment from the Disney store, they had the Easter Mickey and Minnie on sale 2 for $20, so I decided to get one of each for Mark & Jaden's Easter. I wasn't sure how Mark would feel about getting a stuffed animal, but he LOVED it! Jaden loved hers as well! They were really cool as their tummies were chocolate scented!

And speaking of Easter, I promised pics from our day yesterday, so I'll leave you with these:

Love all your purchases! Those summer-themed shirts will be perfect for your trip! :thumbsup2 I think it's great that Mark and Jaden will have so many Disney outfits to wear while there. It's always fun walking through the parks wearing Disney stuff.

Those Easter Mickey and Minnie stuffed animals look awesome! If I was a kid, I would've been begging my parents for one. :rotfl: And, honestly, any toy that smells like chocolate has got to be great.:rotfl2:

Looks like you guys had a great Easter weekend!

Love all your new purchases! Ya'll are going to look so cute with those matching shirts!!
