This was the first time I took DS to scouts (usually DH does it) and guess what we did? We played kickball! Parents against the scouts. It was very fun, but I was extremely self conscious. :( I love games and was thrilled to have played it, however on the way home DS said I looked "silly". He said I ran funny.:( Sort of deflated my balloon. But I pressed further, I probably shouldn't have, because as he tried to explain the sillines, I felt worse, however the more I asked him, he told me 2 of the other mom's looked sillier!

;) So, as pathetic as that is, I felt a wee bit better!:p

It does make my resolve a little stronger to be more fit, so I can enjoy these special times with DS and not be embarassed.

Good for you!!! Sounds like a blast!!!! And don't worry about what he said....kids look silly too...we grown ups just know better than to say it! LOL! :)

I know that is something I could NEVER do right now ---- even if I wanted to!

:D :D :D :D :D
YOU DID IT VIJA! Be proud of yourself! And wait until those kids/parents see you at NEXT YEARS game!;)

I wish I could wipe away that feeling of embarassment and replace it with a feeling of grace and pride and confidence! :) Would you have been willing to play kick ball at a scouts function several months ago? You should be REALLY proud of yourself for doing it. I think most kids think their mom's look silly, especially if they aren't used to seeing their mom's play any time of sports game like that. I am really proud of you! :)

Vija...if its any consolation...I play on a very competitive softball team (co-ed) and some of these guys are good I mean really good. Guess what...they embarss their kids when they play. One of the guys who son is friends with my son said...he wishes his dad would stop playing b/c he looks sooo goofy. This guy is an athlete...he is not goofy...he is good. But his kid still gets embarssed.

Thats part of the fun of being a parent...we get to embarss our kids...and there is nothing they can do about it...LOL

Take it with a grain of salt...what you are showing your son by getting out there and PLAYING is way more important. You are being a great role model and when he looks back he will remember that his MOM played kickball with him when he was in scouts!

Way to Go Girl!!!

I'm with Tracy Vija!

My oldest son (age 9) is at the stage where he likes to tell me how embaressing it is for Mom to play with him, sing, dance around the room etc. (I admit I am a little goofy) but inside himself I know he likes me joining in with his fun sometimes. In fact, one day he told me that one of his "cool" friends said I was the best Mom on the block! :p

You're building wonderful memories for him to look back on. Be proud of that and enjoy the time...even if you do look "funny" .
