After AK day, we headed off to Tampa to see family and spent the day eating Cuban food and relaxing.
The next morning was our last day at Disney parks...Epcot. We arrived at Epcot about 30 min. early and waited for the opening. It was a Sunday, and the park was really not crowded at all in the morning. We headed for Mission Space and walked right on. This ride is cool, and really didn't make me feel sick at all. I think the key is too keep looking at your screen and not around you, so that way you don't notice the spinning. After this ride, we headed for test track. I really liked this ride, and my husband liked it too, but didn't LOVE it. We grabbed a fast pass for later as we were leaving.
A sidenote on fastpasses....we often grabbed fastpasses and then used them later at night or way past their time window. None of the CM's seemed to care, but they are very picky that you dont' come BEFORE your time slot, but usually any time after that, you are good.
Next, we rode Living with the land, and then saw Honey I shrunk the Audience. We also toured Living with the Seas. Then we rode test track again with our fastpass and headed off to lunch at San Angel Inn.
We were seated immediately right by the water. The service was excellent, but the food mediocre. I would like to try this place at dinner, as their menu is much more varied at dinner, but also there are so many other places to eat....
Lunch cost us $45 for two margaritas (a little limey) and two entrees.
We rode El Rio del Tiempo next since we were already there for lunch. It's not the coolest ride in the world, but neither one of us thought it was as bad as some people say. Then we went to Norway and rode Maelstrom, which is really cute.
Next, we went to our car, then hotel, for our afternoon break. As soon as I laid down on the bed, I passed out and my husband set an alarm. It began raining pretty hard, and when the alarm went off, I looked out our beautiful balcony and it was still raining. So, I went back to sleep for another hour. We finally woke up around 4:30 and headed back to Epcot.
Earlier in the day, Mission to Mars had long waits, so we skipped it. Now, although it was still raining lightly, there was no wait. So we climbed on. I remember this ride as a child, and I think there has been some updates. I thought it was well done and interesting. Then we headed off to the world's showcase, and began touring.
We were able to look around at each country and I bought a cool serving set with dragonflies at Japan. I had it delivered to SOG the next day, and it was at the desk the next day just like it was supposed to be! This is such a cool service. Then, we headed over to Morrocco for our 7 pm PS at Marrakesh. The service here was good, the bellydancer is entertaining, and the food is also good. I would recommend this place. We both had a glass of wine, and entrees and our bill was around $70. Eating in Disney is definitely not cheap!
After dinner, we walked around Morrocco, and then headed for a kiosk that sold coffee. Then we staked out a bench in front of Japan to watch Illuminations and drink our coffee. Illuminations was cool, and we only sat there waiting for about half an hour, and the time really went by rather quickly. This park is visually pretty, and my husband and I just sat there resting and talking before the show. After the show we headed out, and althought everyone was leaving, there was no big line of cars, and it was actually way less crowded than Magic Kingdom in the afternoon.
The next day was Sea World and this park was fun, but I must say they are WAY too pushy about taking your picture as you enter the park. Especially when you leave and come back and you have already had your picture taken. Sea World needs to take a lesson from WDW and NOT be high pressure. It's a big turn off for us.
The first thing we did was ride Kraken, and let me tell you, after riding WDW rides all week, this was way exciting and way scarier. We walked right on, and then rode it again right away. Then, against my better judgement, my husband drug me over to journed to Atlantis. We ended up being in the front, and we got utterly and completely soaked! There wasn't anything dry on either of us. The ride is cool, it drops you several times, and then turns into a roller coaster at the very end, and then drops you into the water yet again. We had to walk around Sea World the rest of the day soaking wet, and I was sullen for awhile about this one. Looking back, I wish I had relaxed, because it really wasn't that bad. We watched the Dolphin show, Shamu show, and then fed the dolphins at the feeding pool. Then we went back to the hotel for lunch and a nap. We returned to the park around 4 pm and watched Pets Ahoy (which is very cute and entertaining especially if you like dogs and cats) and we saw the Sea Lion show. The sea lion show was our favorite--very entertaining, and even the wait went by quickly because there was this hilarious mime making jokes the whole time. After the Sea Lion show, we ate dinner with Shamu, which was Okay, but not great. You are close to the whale, but the trainers really did not talk that much, and then one trainer goes in the water and has the whale come up close to where you are sitting, but the rest of the time is just the whale swimming around next to you. The food is pretty good, the desserts (chocolate cake) are excellent, but the experience overall was really something I could live without. I kinda had an idea in my head that the trainers would be eating with us or at least around to answer questions etc. but really they are across the water from you and one guy comes over at the end of dinner near the exit and stays for about 5 min. to answer questions.
We headed back to SOG for an early night, and skipped the laser show, as we had already seen enough firework shows, and didn't want to fight crowds.
The next day was our day to leave : ( and we packed, checked out, and headed over to Winterland Summerland Mini-golf. This course is extremely elaborate and very cute. We had a great time and then headed over to Downtown Disney.
DD had a lot of cool shops. We bought some souveniers, had lunch, and an ice cream at Ghiradelli's (which was delicious!). Then we headed off to the airport to say goodbye to Florida heat and hello to Oklahoma heat!
