Guardians MAD “rope drop”

I’m going to OBB on the 31st and I was thinking I might rush to GOTG right after I get in at 3, which is also when MAD opens. My flight gets in to SNA at 12:50 and then I’ll take a Lyft right to Disney and line up right away so I think I’ll be toward the front of the crowd. But I was wondering how fast the line for MAD builds up? I know the line will be short during the actual party but I plan to do it many, many times in addition to the other rides there

From my experience, it builds up instantly and non-OBB guests will already be in line. After that initial rush, the wait time drops down as they let in more elevators and people late to the OBB mix in decide to do it later. Since you seem to be interested in other rides as well, if you aren't at the front of the pack for OBB mix in, I suggest doing those rides first. But if you are close to the front, don't be scared if it has a high posted wait time because the actual wait will likely be shorter than that.

We went in September but our experience was mix-in was very busy with really long lines. After the party started we rode Guardians multiple times with hardly any wait. It doesn’t seem worth it to wait in a long line at 3:00 PM when you could be doing other things to maximize your time.

There isn’t a rope drop for OBB. Regular park guests will already be in the park and in line for the ride, and the line will already be long because of this. We went to OBB two Sundays ago and, once the mix-in was over, Guardians was walk-on for the rest of the night.
