Guaranteed rooms not available? Why?

I booked my 5/12 wonder cruise in early Feb with my travel agent at AAA. At the time I requested category 11, guaranteed (we had good luck on another line with guarantee, and got really upgraded!). I was told that guarantee cabins were not available.
Maybe I am dense, but can anyone tell me why? Were they just sold out? I am hoping for any type of an upgrade, but it seems like there would be zero chance of that happening without a guaranteed cabin. I couldn't get a straight answer as to why they were not available, and am wondering if anyone can help me. Thank you! Sue

The guaranteed staterooms are only available when most of the that category is fully booked and they do not have a stateroom assignment available. When that happens, you can get a guarantee. As long as there are still stateroom assignments left in your category though, guaranteed staterooms are not available to be booked.
