Like I said above, first timer on DCL, so low expectations I have found a thread on here that says this is a good room, just slightly smaller balcony. I’m fine with lots of walking on a cruise - my mom is used to being close to an elevator. So we’ll see how she does…

It was worth the cost savings though to go with guarantee over choosing a room.

Following up on this GTY assignment post cruise. Of the two rooms we were assigned, one (1069) is problematic, as there is a loud (60dB) randomly recurring noise originating from somewhere below this room, likely elevator machinery. The staff appears to know about this issue, yet they assign this stateroom anyhow. The sailing was fully booked up as of about 30 days out, which is likely the reason for such a late stateroom assignment. No stateroom swap was offered to remediate the problem due to ship being so full.

It was ok was happy to get a family room as we had 4 in our party, and it was aft-mid, so didn't feel much movement, but it was rather loud, but we did adjust to the noise, and it didn't bother us at night etc. Wouldn't have minded being a bit higher as well, as when I sat on the balcony, I was drawn sometimes to the life boat right below us.

As an update, we paid $138 at the port and upgraded to a category 5A room in the aft on Deck 9. So, this really worked out for us. However, the Deck 5 laundry room is huge.

Happy. Exactly what I was expecting to get. I'm happy to be lower mid ship. Based on past reviews seems like everyone loves the location in terms of getting to things on decks 2-5. I was hoping for one of these rooms over one of the family deluxe oceanviews left that were way forward on the higher decks.
