guacamole?

Does anyone know if you can get guacamole at either of the CS Mexican restuarants at DLR? I know you can get it at Storytellers but looking for a cheaper, option at a CS place.

I know they serve it with the enchiladas at Rancho del Zocalo, but just a very small amount.

Whitewater Snacks at the GCH uses quacamole on their nachos as well. And they are yummo!

I know it's kind of an odd question but DS4 is just learning to eat "real" food (because of several medical issues) and guacamole is one thing he is able to eat since he doesn't know how to chew things yet. So I'm just trying to find things we can get him at DLR instead of always having to bring our own food. Obviously bringing his food is cheaper but i get tired of always having to bring everything with us. I just want to feel like a "normal" person who can buy their kids something to eat when they go out.

At Rancho del Zocalo during my last trip (last month), I got guacamole with my enchilada plate. My dining companion didn't order the enchilada plate, but they gave her a little cup of guacamole to go with the chips she ordered when she asked. Don't remember how much it cost, though.

You get a small cup of guacamole and sour cream. BTW, the menu says 4 enchiladas, but when we were there early December, we only got 3.

For a la carte, I would try Rancho del Zocalo (or maybe even the Mexican place inside DCA) before White Water Snacks. My friend and I went to White Water Snacks and she ordered a personal pizza that happened to come with a salad. My friend will not eat salad at all but the CM insisted that it comes with the pizza. I specifically asked if it would be cheaper to get it without the salad and they said there would be no price difference, so that meant that I got a free salad.

It could have been an inexperienced CM, as I've never heard a CM refuse to serve something a la carte before in any other restaurants. But it also could be a policy of that restaurant. I think they MAY have yogurt at White Water Snacks if that would work as a non-solid, but I wouldn't count on the guacamole unless you call in advance.

The food at White Water Snacks was OK, though my favorite aspect was the view.

Yogurt is a good idea except that DS is allergic to strawberries and blueberries and those seem to be the most comon flavors around.

Can he stomach plain yogurt? If so you can add your own fruit to it. DD10 found banana yogurt the other day at the store, it's Dannon. And YES you absolutely CAN get guac at Rancho! I usually get the enchiladas and it comes with it but I wanted more once for our chips and I was able to get more on the side in a little cup. I don't remember what they charged (if anything) but the chips are so good with guac. I'm glad he's found something that he likes!

The CS window at Tortilla Joe's in DTD has guacamole, but I don't know if they sell it a la carte. We like their nachos with black beans and chicken.

I don't know if DS has ever tried plain yogurt. That's a good idea to add our own fruit. At home I can buy lemon, orange creme, vanilla, key lime pie, etc but when we go somewhere (like DLR) where the choices are limited then you usually only see strawberry and blueberry.

And thanks for the guac report about Rancho. We actually haven't eaten there in a really long time. I'm not sure why. So maybe we should go check it out next time.

We've never eaten at Tortilla Joe's. I've heard mixed reviews and since Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen around here we don't usually think to try it. We'll have to put it on our list of places to try.

Okay, another question. How chunky are these various guacamoles? Avacado chucks are okay but we would have to pick out any chucks of onion if they were too big.

I don't remember seeing any onions in the Rancho guac, it was pretty mashed up too. Personally I like it chunky with tomatoes and onions in big chunks, but that wouldn't work for your little man. There may be a tomato or two that he can see but you can probably pick them out if necessary.

Vanilla yogurt would be good with fruit mixed in too. I personally don't like plain yogurt but I do like vanilla with extras added in.

Thanks! I figured it probably wouldn't be too chunky at the CS places since less chuncky guac seems to be the cheaper kind. We'll definately have to get some next time we go. We ordered guacamole for DS at Storeytellers a few months ago and the waiter thought it was funny. It wasn't funny to us, we were just excited to order DS something in a restuarant.
