We booked the 7/23/2005 West Coast while on our 1/9/2005 WONDER cruise. When will DCL assign a specific cabin# ? We are a Cat 6. Should I call DCL and request a the cabin we would like???

You're booked as a GTY because there are very few cabins left to be assigned. DCL won't assign GTY cabins until about 30 days prior to sailing. You'll get your cabin assignment when you receive your documents. We're also booked a a GTY cagetory 6 on the 7-9-05 sailing.

We too are booked on the 7/23/05 west coast cruise in a category 4 gty. Our reservation was created on board the Magic on a 7 day eastern cruise this past July. As was explained to me by the onboard sales staff. The ship overbooks as do airlines in anticipation of cancellations. So, one year out all the category 4 cabins were booked! According to DCL, most receive actual assignments approx 30 days prior to sale, but that can vary based on inventory.

If they overbook your category and you have a GTY room in category __, you will get bumped but UP a category, not down. We booked our last cruise GTY oceanview and got bumped up to a stateroom with a verandah! We felt very lucky on that cruise.

Good luck!

GTY means that you are "guaranteed" to be in at least that category. In exchange for not having an assigned stateroom, you have increased your chances of being upgraded!
