I just recived this offer:"Enjoy 10% Off your Cruise + $100 Disney Cruise Spending Money" do you think this is a better offer than waiting for a GT rate? The cruise we are looking at is a May 2020 3 days cruise.

Was that from DCL? I thought they stopped the on board credit. The VGT rate for our Fantasy cruise saved us about $1000. The 10% off would have been about $400 dollar savings.

It came from the Walt Disney Travel company. I'm in the UK so it might be a UK only thing. But because the May cruise is so close I'm not sure if I should rather wait for a VGT rate.

Is that a Magic Med.cruise or any cruise? If it was a Med cruise than that would make sense that the offer was for the UK only.

Yes, but from what you say it's not as good as a VGT rate! So I should probably wait for that!?

Yes, the VGT can be better, but there is a reason for that: There is no guarantee of the VGT being offered. The *GT rates are great if you are flexible and don't mind not going if they are not offered within your timeframe.

So, only you can answer your question.
Are you okay with not going on the cruise you have your eye on if there won't be a VGT?
If yes, wait for it.
If no, take the deal you are currently being offered.

There's a reason they say a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I held off booking a Disney hotel for our next trip thinking I'd take advantage of the discounts when they came out, only to find discounts were not available for my dates (just like like VGT is not offered every cruise), and was kicking myself because the rack rate had gone up $50 a night by the time I decided to book. I think if you see what you want, go for it, and have no regrets.

My last 2 cruises were VGT however I know the approximate time I need to sail to get the best odds of getting that rate. It's much easier now that our girls are older and can't usually sail with us.

What would the best time be? We are quite flexible and to be honest I'm not that fussed ongoing on a cruise either it will be more an add on our DW vacation. We have 4 children and we will need to rooms so the more the discount the better!

I find that the end of January and most of February with the exception of the Presidents day holiday week have decent VGT rates.
