Stopped today at GS outside MGM to ask if we could buy new APs bs renewing

Informed new APs being sold only to

* those who cancelled their APs entirely but ‘accidentally’ during the pandemic

&

* for children who have turned 3

Anyone who had a pass expire during the shutdown or canceled the AP is now eligible to purchase a new one.

If you are not in that category, then you have to wait.
So, I cancelled all my family's APs during the shutdown, so I can go ahead and purchase new ones now or can I renew?

You can not renew because you no longer have passes, But it sounds like you are one who is eligible. You have to call the AP line and they will take your name and information, Someone will then call you back when they confirm you are eligible and let you buy.

The CM I spoke to said this is designed to be a ‘recovery’ type of process...as in fthose who mistakenly cancelled their passes.

um, I guess anyone who cancelled APs in their entirety could claim they made a mistake doing so. That is exactly what I told the CM

For those who can take advantage of the accommodation, congrats!

I’m sure the rest of us will eventually get our chance to buy new vouchers or passes

cynic in me does think tho that perhaps they’d prefer people keep any existing APs valid vs having a lapse between two different ones

The article I read about it did not mention that. It just said anyone who had a pass expire or canceled was eligible And to call. Nothing shout it being recovery based for mistakes.

As I mentioned, people have reported calling, giving info and then being called in a few days once it was verified they had had a canceled or expired pass.

Good luck to all! Just relaying what I was told face-2-face. As with all things disney, if you don’t like the first answer you get...try again

For the comment "who turned 3", is that for during the shutdown period or those who turn 3 in 2020? Probably too technical to ask and I can call. I'm needing new APs and if I can get some for my kids, that helps us out a little bit.

I would interpret that to mean that if someone is eligible to get an AP now because of a canceled or expired one, and they have a child who is now 3, they will allow a new AP for them.

Again, all reports I have read is that you call, give info, and they verify if you are eligible and then call you back and if you are, they allow the purchase.

Still waiting for my $$ from Disney. Until that happens, buying a new pass won’t happen. we canceled late April and I asked then if I could just apply the $$ towards a new ap voucher and told no. I’m just not eager to give them $$ until my refunds come (Over $700) I have a trip mid March to use banked points and at this point it will be a parkless trip (first time ever) . Thanks for the updates though.

I called and got rejected. We don't have anyone with AP now. So I just buy my day passes and cross fingers something is announced on new APs before my trip. Buying day passes is a killer if you are visiting more than twice and know your money is equivalent or more to a gold AP pass. I can see why folks are canceling. The economics don't make sense.

Thanks for the update, I do think that it is a good sign that they have started, even if for a small group of people,

I think it bodes well we will see them for sale in the next month or so for others.

I can tell by watching availability there are many people cancelling at the last possible moment. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of those are people that were waiting on / hoping for APs. I couldn't justify multiple trips without an AP. Especially with all the other changes and concerns.

Example / Parents have current APs, child didn’t need an AP till they turned 3 y.o. Child needs AP to enter the park sort of thing

They might need the funds from new AP sales to be able to finish refunding on the cancelled AP's.
Still waiting for the refund too. And I have more than once wondered if I made a mistake in asking for it.

I will update the main thread, but 3 out of 4 refund checks arrived in the mail this weekend. We canceled by phone on August 10 or something (the last day). Our 4yo's AP, which was bought out of cycle when she turned 3, was canceled on the same phone call, but we haven't gotten the check yet.
