Grumpy and his wife and possibly the DIS Food Porn Queen are going to Disney

Ooooh, I love the new shirt!!!!!

And Stefy, guess where Joe is TAKING ME?!?!?! Yeah, he doesn't know yet either. :rolleyes1

Cute! I like the shirt!

Thank you.

I posted somewhere about your purse either last night or this morning but I don't see my post! :headache::mad::headache::mad:

But anyway... I like it! :)

So Mark is gonna be one of those ECV riders huh? :rotfl:

I'm sure he will be fine to walk by then.... I'm sure his doctors will be wanting him to get lots of exercise.

I think you're working too hard and you are forgetting what you did/didn't do. Glad you like the purse. Yeah, heaven help us if Mark is ONE OF THOSE ECV riders. :rotfl:

That's one CUTE T-shirt!!!! I envy that you have so many Disney Stores - the closest one here is in London, UK!!
Hey Disney, can you hear me? We desperately need a Disney Store here in Austria too!!!!!!! :upsidedow

Good to hear that you both felt well enough to go out to dinner! Hope you make it to the zoo today! :goodvibes

I think we should start a petitionj for the Disney Store to open in Austria! I'll sign fror you. :)

Yep, went to the zoo today. It was fun, but we had a major disappointment. I'll put up a "zoo trip report" within this report soon.

Glad to hear you and Mark are out and about :)

Love the t shirt, v cool :goodvibes

Oops hope Mark doesn't hate me for pointing out about D&B  You must let me know if you do visit the store, would love to hear if they have the Disney bags in there :)

Glad you like the shirt, Stefy. I haven't told Mark yet...so you are safe.

Ooooh, I love the new shirt!!!!!

Isn't it great, Sophia?

Lol, uh oh what have I started

Oh oh! Stefy seems to have started some trouble. :guilty:

Awww, I love that shirt! I love anything Winnie the Pooh! :lovestruc

Pooh and Eeyore are my favorites.

Okay, going to make Mark some Chicken Cordon Bleu and then I'll post a "zoo trip report."

Okay, we were supposed to go to the Brookfield Zoo last week while Mark was home recuperating from his surgery, but I was very ill and we didn't make it. So, today it was a beautiful day--80 and sunny.

We left the house at 8:30 and stopped at Starbucks for my coffee and Dunkin Donuts for Mark's coffee. We were done getting the coffee and on the road to the zoo--about 30 minutes from our home. We always park in the South lot rather than the main parking lot because a lot of people don't use it so it is always less crowded. However, when we got to 31st Street, we had to turn right and head to the main lot. It seems after the 7+ inches of rain that we got Friday night/Saturday morning, 1st Avenue was closed from 31st Street on due to flooding.

So we entered the Zoo:

Our first goal of the day was to head to the new "Great Bear Wildnerness" which opened in May. So I told Mark...NO stopping to see the elephants on the way, we were on a mission. So we arrived at the entrance at their was a Park employee standing there indicating that we could see the grounds, but that there were no animals on exhibit. WHAT????? This was the reason we came to the zoo to see this great new exhibit (the commercials just pull you in). As it turns out, the rain was so bad in this area, that they could not get the animals from their overnight habitats to go on exhibit in their new surroundings because of all the water. They were hoping to have the water drained by mid-afternoon but they weren't even sure. We also knew we did not want to be at the Zoo after 1 p.m. or so because iat gets really crowded. So, no bears or bison on this trip. :sad2:

So we stopped for a bathroom break and started out our trek through the rest of the zoo.

First stop was my absolute favorite: the giraffes. Last year, there were only three giraffes. This year there were 5. Here are a few photos:

Up next, was this cute guy--he was thirsty:

And, then, my smart a** DH, said, here's the cigarettes:

Not sure what this guy was, but he sure had a weird head and the biggest feet:

Up next, could it be a hat?

Very cute shirt!

Sorry to hear about the exhibit not having the animals! :headache: Hopefully the rest of the day improves. That last animal is crazy looking! I haven't a clue what it is either though! :confused3

It took me a minute to get Mark's joke about the cigarettes. I guess that's a good thing.

Nice shirt! We love going to our Disney store...too bad there's only one left in the entire state. There used to be Disney stores all over the place. Oh well.
I got great deals on t-shirts there before our last trip.

Glad you're feeling better and that you got to go the zoo! :goodvibes

And I noted what it was called but forgot to write it down...which I need to do as I get older...make notes. ;)

Glenn, you are too young to be "slow!" :)

Thanks, Tina. Feeling better...still not great, but definitely better. Yeah, they've closed the majority of the stores here too. We used to have one in our mall and they closed it three years ago.

Well, no trip anywhere is complete without an obligatory hat picture (or two):

And I had to have fun too:

Back to some of the animals now. This fox was a real cutie:

I'd hate to get stuck by one of these guys:

Cute little meekrat:

We then headed over to see the seals and dolphins. We didn't see the dolphins because they were in their holding spot until the show started (we decided to wait until we go back in October to see the show when we go back to see the bears, bison, etc).

Feeding time:

Mark needed a rest before we went to see his favorite animal:

Up next, Mark's favorite animal and the rest of our late morning/early afternoon at the zoo.

Mark's favorite (could be WHY he loves Dumbo so much):

Despite the flooding and the Bears not being on exhibit, it was a good day at the zoo. We look forward to going back after our Disney trip during the fall season and hoping to see the bears this time. :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Oh, and we are at 54 days. :thumbsup2

Hey you, we were in the same neighborhood today! Well, you were long home by the time we got to the area-but still! DH grew up in LaGrange Park, about a 5-10 minute drive from the zoo and we were out at his parents' house today for a birthday get-together. I love Brookfield Zoo! My sister is gaga over animals so we make at least one trip a year! I also love going at Christmas time to see the trees and the decorations. :) That's a bummer that the exhibit wasn't open-I haven't seen it yet either.

Looks like a great day at the zoo! Even with the disappointment of the bear exhibit being closed, this looks like a wonderful zoo! :thumbsup2

May I add that I loved the hat and glasses photos too!! :goodvibes

It's nice to see that you are feeling so much better - and since you mentioned countdowns - CONGRATS on hitting 54!! (we hit the teens today - only 19 more days for us!!):woohoo:

It looks like you had a great time at the zoo. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Joe and I have not been to the zoo in forever.

Some great pictures and not a bad day, apart from the bear exhibit not being open.

Love Mark's comment about the camels

Hi Kathy-

I am catching up at work and can't see a single picture but I know your bag must be super cute just from all the comments.

I wish I could see your zoo pics, but it sounds like you had a great day. 80 degrees and sunny sounds so perfect because it has been 95 and humid here. Finally rained last night and what a relief. the most fantastic sky I have ever seen but I was driving and didn't have my camera. Boo!

I think Mark will be fine having his angioplasty two weeks before your trip! :thumbsup2

We've never gone at Christmas time, but I really want to do that this year.

Loved your pics Kathy!

Looks like you had an enjoyable day! :)

The weather was perfect! Thankfully, there is no more rain in the forecast until Wednesday so all those poor people that have lost personal possessions in the 7-8 inches we got on Friday/Saturday can clean up.

It is a great zoo. A little expensive--but I got free passes so we only had to pay for parking. And you don't think we can go anywhere without at least one hat picture. :rotfl:

I cannot believe that you leave in just 19 days. :woohoo::woohoo:

It's really a "good practice" for the walking at Disney because the Zoo is pretty spread out.

Some great pictures and not a bad day, apart from the bear exhibit not being open.

Love Mark's comment about the camels

You know Mark...Mr. Comedian. ;)

Don't worry about not seeing the pictures...you put my pictures to shame. We had that 95 and humid for awhile (and it is on the way back). I feel so sorry for all of the people whose houses flooded...especially those near the park where they were rowing boats still at 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

I'm sure Mark will be fine. I just would have preferred he got it done and over with. But I can see why he needs to heal first.
