Have you ever met someone in the parks, either a guest or CM, who fits the role of Grumpy perfectly? I know that we have, but at least we can laugh at the situation now. When we meet a Grumpy, we try to forgive them thinking that everyone has a bad day once ina while. However, they do make interesting stories.
At the International Gateway, the Security Guard was handing out a Security Guard Mickey stickers. She was doing this because it wasn't at all crowded. We asked for stickers, but she said loudly, "Oh, well I don't see any preschoolers in your party. What would you want with stickers!" We just turned around and left, because she wasn't kidding.
The other is by Spaceship Earth. We were walking down the path to a group of people who were standing in the middle of the street, talking. (And I know that this has been mentioned as a frustrating occurence in several recent threads.) As we approached, one girl said, "Don't you even think about expecting us to move for you!" No joke. We just walked around, feeling upset.
We can laugh at how ridiculous those people are nowso, I thought I would share the stories.

:furious: I would have been tempted (cause I am no lightweight!) to plough right thru them. After all, like in "Fried Green Tomatoes" - "I'm older and have more insurance" -- of course I hope I would have 6'5" husband behind me saying things like "Oh no, DW is crazy ... she can hardly see ... , etc...."

Then again, I most likely would have done like you did - walking away is sensible! (... but I might have been tempted to tell security they were threatening people)

No stories myself - but in upcoming trip I will do as you did and turn the other cheek and try to remember that there are "Grumpies" out there. :sunny:

:rotfl: Oh you all have met my mom! :rotfl2:

Just kidding!, we have a good time, but on our last trip I alsmost bought a shirt to wear that had Dopey on it pointing to the side and the bottom side it said, "I'm with Grumpy" hahaha, I would remind her about that shirt when we would start to get on each other's nerves!

Now, I can be grumpy, but NOT that grumpy. Plus, I like being Evil better.

just joking......................... :teeth:

Sometimes I'm the grumpy one, but I do my best to avoid inflicting it opon others. I'll never forget the morning my family got on the monorail at the Poly. We were happy and feeling great from all the carbs from the nice breakfast but had to share the car with the grouchiest, most sullen family on the planet. They sat across from us and just glared straight at us with their arms folded across their chests, almost like storm troopers. Yikes! We all became quiet ourselves, and just looked out the windows.

I dont understand why people do this? If you are all that unhappy together, why not get into seperate cars or just not do the park that day? :confused3 I mean honestly, would you want to tour with others while being in a bad mood and seeing thousands of other happy families?

I'm grumpy. At least my DH says so. :teeth: But I am not grumpy at Disney! Why would I be grumpy on vacation. :confused3 Too much :wizard: floating around.

My DH is grumpy. He always uses the excuse, "I just woke up". That doesn't explain his grumpiness the rest of his awake hours. He is even grumpy at WDW. He complains about the pices, the heat, how Crowded it is. He has been many times and should know what to expect. I have left him home 3 times. I don't want him ruining things for me or my girls.

I think some people WANT to be grumpy.......

So, if they are by nature, aren't going to avoid a park.

I can only imagine becoming "grumpier" by seeing other folks happy.

Some people are just like that. :confused3

I have to laugh at this post because everyone in my familly is usually very up beat but we have our grumpy moments. I remember one hot June waiting on the train and we had just been racing to get to all the rides and we were thirsty and exhausted. A nice cm said "well folks how are you today?" I replied "we are tired." He responded, " It is hard work having fun!" I had to chuckle about that the rest of the trip, especially in difficult moments. :rotfl:

Thats my FIL. We haven't been to Disney with them and I don't want to. My MIL and I would probably do ok, but someone who complains the whole time about how much stuff costs ruins it for me. :sad2:

I love Grumpy most of the time ... I married him! (Well not Grumpy23 who appears to be a woman and married to someone else - but another Grumpy) :teeth:

Anyway WDW was the 1st time I think my DH was totally UNGRUMPY - he turned into HAPPY sooo.... I am really excited to go back .... I LIKED HAPPY even better!! :thumbsup2

Hey wait, I thought I married Grumpy! ;) I'm not even sure why Grumpy is my favorite dwarf. My DH bought a hat for me on our last trip there this past April that has a picture of Grumpy on it and it says I (heart) Grumpy Guys. At least he admits it! :rolleyes1 And one good thing, he is never grumpy when we are at Disney World. :yay:

My husband and I have heard so many "grumpies" in Disney World. Sometimes I think it is brought on by the heat (we have been in August a few times) but there is simply no exuse!! No grumpies in Disney World! :thumbsup2 Its called the happiest place on earth for a reason!!! :cool1: :rotfl2:

Seriously, if they are grumpy they should just stay home. When we were at Kennedy Space Center in April, it was God awful hot and there was this little boy standing in front of one of those water pads where the water shoots up out of the ground in different places. He had the biggest smile on his face as he stepped into the fountain and his father freaked out on him and started screaming at him. He yelled really loud in front of everyone, "why do you always have to ruin every vacation we go on, I'm never taking you anywhere again", as he dragged the kid away, screaming at him. The kid was like 4 lol. He must have forgotten what it was like to be a child who just wants to explore. :confused3

But at least I am not the only one who appears to have encountered Grumpy at WDW.

I took my little sister to AK in 1998 just a few months after opening. We were trying to get on the train to Conservation Station, when a man stepped right between us. Hey, I was on vacation and I am not confrotational, so I didn't say anything to the rude guy. But then a woman (who turned out to be his wife) stepped in front of me, turned around, leaned in so her face was about 3 inches from mine and screamed (yep, screamed that close to me): "Why won't you let me sit with my husband????"

I was so shocked that I tripped backwards off the step (no injuries, thankfully) and my sister had to work her way past these two lovelies and get back to me.

I guess those two weren't having a Magical Day! ;)

That's also really rude on their part. What if you had gotten hurt? I might have pretended to have broken an arm or something so as to give them a little scare. Incidentally, I think Grumpy is the funniest dwarf in Snow White, but sometimes it's not fun to meet him, as in this post.

I think that's a slightly naive statement to make. OK if you're only at WDW for a few days, and it's just you and friends/adult family... but we're taking a trip for 14 days with 3 under 5s. We can't just "stay at home" if someone goes out grumpy. If the kids have a meltdown (I'm expecting at least 3 a day :rotfl2: then we'll go back to the hotel, but that's all we can do really. And I strongly suspect that the patience of some of the adults will be tested, although I really hope that none of us will turn into the swearing ogres who scream at their kids like some of the people you see at the "happiest f***ing place on earth", LOL!

I must admit that after 8 days on my last trip I was overtired and in a foul mood :rotfl: but as soon as I got to the parks it went away and I was happy me again :teeth: and that was without any kids!!
