I went to log on this afternoon after taking a break for a bit and when I come back..... I get a message that I have to change my name

So, I am back to being a doggone Guest !!!!!!!!

Tiggerholic, same as my DIS name. They are probably doing it because I complained to Sparky about NOT getting my prize when I won in his game

I'm sorry, Tigger. My guess would be they have an issue with it because it has a similar stem to it as "alcoholic," but that's only my guess. Seems a bit overboard though, and odd that they'd wait until now to think it wasn't a good idea. What did you request to be your new name?

I know how annoying it can get having your name changed, when you've had it for so long. Believe me - I've had my name changed three times.

I wouldn't be blaming Sparky, though. Even if Sparky was annoyed, I doubt that had anything to do with your name.

I am also curious as to what you chose for your new name. =)

I have to agree with sorcerer.. If they approve any name with the part "holic" then it really sounds like they allow a refrence to alcohol in the game and I hope they don't approve it

Just to be clear, I don't think they should have a problem with the title "Tiggerholic."

"-holic" by definition means addicted to something, and our DIS friend is addicted to Tigger. There are plenty of other "tame" words with that stem like "chocoholic" (chocolate lover/addict), or my personal favorite, "shop-a-holic" (I know a lot of those, myself included! ). It's just the first thing that jumped into my mind as to why they might want the name changed.

Hopefully it works out for you, Tigger. Perhaps you could ask a Host or someone about it if you happen to see them around in the game?

If they had found that it was offensive or against VMK values, then why would they allow it in the first place?

BTW, "fan" is derived from the word "fanatic" which orginally meant “inspired or possessed by a god”. By all rights, VMK should NOT allow the word "fan"

That was my point too, Tigger (see my last post). It doesn't make any sense to me either, but it's not terribly surprising. I've had a couple friends go through this when there was no need for it to be changed, and it really upset them. I keep waiting for some bomb to drop about me having Donald in my title (aka I'm giving out my first name; seeing as I'm a girl, not so much! ). I'd cry my eyes out if they took my title away from me (yes, I love Donald and Philharmagic that much).

Yet, we are still talking about an addiction and I think if VMK wanted words referring to an addiction they would have the word "addiction" in the VMK dictionary.

Sorry Lyn about having to change your ID, I do know how you feel because I have had to change one of my characters after almost 2 years with the same ID as did my DS his ID was Mickeetoo.

Both IDs we had since day1 and no clue as to why, I know that there must be a reason but I do not think that staff would be so petty as to make you change your ID because you complained about not getting a prize in a staff run game.

I'm so sorry to hear about that, Tigger. I thought your name was quite cute and enjoyed seeing it. But here's why I think it wasn't allowed:

After talking with HOST_Lily in the past about player name changes, she told me that all names with "Disney" in them weren't allowed anymore. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they're not allowing disney character names in player names.

I think the old player name screen (The blue one that we had before it went green) had a reference that said: "Do not pick a name that has a TV/Movie character i.e. Spongebob Squarepants, Scooby-Doo, etc."
Or something like that.

I know a lot of players have "tink" or "tinkerbell" in their names, and if those players have to change their names, then I guess my suspicions would be right.

I don't think it has anything to do with the "holic"...I am a fan of all things Pooh and I have seen some of my VMK friends with names like Eeyorehehe have to change and names like heheEeyore were accepted. I think they don't like names that have a character name first and then something appended to the end.

Sorry to say, I agree with Penny. I'd heard they were changing all names with an actual Disney character name in it, Mickey, etc. Beware mickeysfriend . Quite odd if you ask me, you'd think they would want us to be thrilled with park characters, but maybe there's some kind of copywrite contingency.

I thought I would check out a few of my other names to test the Disney "character" theory and my names that have Tigger in them are just peachy

But ......... they left MissTiggerholic alone !!!!!
