Grrr...my planning may have been stopped!!

I mentioned earlier how DH can be a DL hater...He's the Villain in my planning today!

He & his partners (2 others) want to take each of their families to the Bahamas, once the company picks up. Which should be soon.

First of all, no offense to the Bahamas but it never interested me. I like our spot in SoCal, where we can hang on the beach & hit our fave eateries. It's also cheaper. And closer. And there's no hurricanes!!! And I haven't been PLANNING for the Bahamas....I've been planning for DL!!!

So...::SIGH::
A) I have no idea where to START planning a Bahama vacation bc, well, it took me 4 yrs to find this site!!
B) I read hurricane season is July-November. WHAT??

I'm just befuddled & lost right now.

ack..I bet you can find alot of info at trip Advisors or some site like that..I have no interest in the Bahamas either (hey..maybe a Disney cruise to the Carribean will be close enough?). We went to an all inclusive with family members and it was very nice, but it was no Disney...

I was thinking Disney cruise too! There must be some way to fit Disney in. Or make a deal, you go there and next trip he goes to DLR.

My family( other than kids) is always saying Hawaii, Jamaica, blah blah blah.
Sorry....not on my list. Besides I am terrified of airplanes.
But a Disney cruise hmmmmm
Especially when they get to the west coast. otherwise I would have to drive to the east coast
I would check out the cruises and try to bargain with DH DL hater,

We did the Disney cruise to the Bahamas at Christmas and believe me both are way overrated. The Disney Wonder will be coming to the west coast when the new ships are built

Last time I checked Disney cruises were sooo expensive . . . I'd be more inclined to just try and get a cruise out of it.

Other than that.. we didn't care for the bahama's.

Now Cancun, We LoVe! And usually go once a year. Cancun has some really beautiful all inclusive resorts.

There are several girls from your state who attend which is nice for booking flights and sharing cabs to the hotel.

And if by chance the Atlantis is out of reach financially, I've learned from the cruisecritic forums that there's a Day's Inn right next door that gives you FULL rights to the Atlantis grounds. Crazy, eh? But true! Look around on the cruisecritic boards, find the "destinations" (or something like that) main forum, get to Bahamas, and start reading. you'll eventually find a link to a discount page for that hotel and you can learn about it.

Most people on those boards don't even stay there; they just check in, pay, and sometimes check out immediately, just to get the pass that allows them access to Atlantis' fun stuff, b/c it's so much cheaper than doing the same with a room AT Atlantis, and cheaper (and more available) than the passes you can buy from a cruiseship.

But I don't know if it's a decent place for staying, though I kind of imagine it would be...

Anyway, it's an idea!

I've actually always wanted to go to Atlantis but I don't think the partners are down for that sort of thing - I see them drinking blue cocktails, laying in the sun all day. When I'm on vacay I want to go go go..see see see!!! So DL works well for me AND my ADD. LOL!

They also are thinking this summer...umm..2 kids on a long flight..hurricanes..WHERE'S the FUN?? I mean, we weren't thinking of going to DL until February - but affording a trip to DLR (GCH probably)...and the Bahamas..not really doable in my thinking. We were considering getting a house by the beach (SoCal) for a week or 2 in July, we can't do that if we go to the stinkin' Bahamas!!!

I'm all for seeing new things & new adventures....but w/ time, money, kids - I like what I KNOW. I know SoCal, I know DL, I know I enjoy myself in those places.

My only hope is that when I tell DH hurricane season is July-Nov he'll gladly postpone until May or June of 2010. I don't think the partners want to wait that long tho...

Awwww man!!! no! I am feel your pain! The only thing to do in bahamas is .....sit by the water and ...relax!! which is okay, but I like to do things when I vacation! I will relax by the beach when I am 80!!! Even then I will probably complain about it, lol! HOpe things turn out in your favor! I have heard that they have great casinos there, if you like to gamble!!

do what any disneyland fan would do..... go with out him tell him you and the kids are off to the parks, and he can go to the bahama's see very simple.
