Yes, I agree. Problem is that all the new fancy MDE stuff is layered on top of an old system. Until the root cause is addressed, this will continue to happen.

This has to be more than a traffic/congestion induced outage. I'm thinking something on the back-end died.

Oh, I agree something is down. But seeing as they had issues yesterday, and now today again, it is unacceptable. No large corporation would tolerate their whole system being down for over 5 hours.

Be prepared for it to be crowded. You will have to wait in lines for even the things you wouldn't think of like the people mover, carousel of progress. Etc. it gets more and more crowded each year for Thanksgiving, but if you go knowing to expect large crowds then it isn't a big deal. We are generally able to get in everything we want to do, but you have to have patience. This year with free dining being offered during that week it will makemitmworse, and it will make getting those prime dining reservstions very difficult, hence the reason I am so upset about the system being down!

We don't follow the extra magic hours, because that really increases the crowds in the park at that time. Also, depending on what resort you stay in, be prepared for longer waits for busses, especially at the close of a park.

I've been there during all times, and basically, anymore there isn't a time when the parks aren't crowded. Just go and enjoy it, don't let the crowds or the people get to you. The more crowded it is, the more rudeness you'll encounter. Have a great trip.

I've been saying this for years!! It's time they do something about it. They've got the money to invest in the latest technology. Sometimes you have to spend a little (or a lot) to increase. The bottom line. Major upgrades are necessary.

Actually this year has had less crashes reported for people making November/Thanksgiving week reservations. I believe that is due in some part to the bot sites being shut down and not creating system overhead.

We go every year at Thanksgiving too and agree with maj42169. Everything will be super crowded, but if you go in knowing that and have a good plan, it is manageable. I'm curious on the affect free dining will have. We also see lots of First Timers wandering around like a scene from The Walking Dead.

The biggest differences for me during this time are the crowds leaving Wishes, Fantasmic, etc. (packed in - almost claustrophobic) and the waits for the buses.

The weather may be coldish but I prefer that over the summer heat and all the holiday decorations will be up! Parks will be open late and all nighttime entertainment will be offered every night (most likely).

As of now the parks are not open late. On our last trip, they did not extend the park ours during Thanksgiving week.

I imagine that will change - some parks will open earlier (which screws up the folks with 8am PPO breakfasts). I don't recall previous years, but last year I'm pretty sure hours were extended later too- 2 MSEP parades at MK, 2 Fantasmic shows, things like that.

I don't remember the evening hours being extended last year, we arrived on Thanksgiving day. But the years sort of run together anymore because we've been going every Thanksgiving since 2007.

Yea me too and the years definitely run together!! We come in on the Friday or weekend before and stay until the weekend after. If I recall the hours are extended the week leading up starting Monday - definitely morning hours are pushed back, or am EMH added, something to be aware of for those looking to get a BOG, CP, etc. pre-park ADR.

Whew..glad it isn't just me. Have tried twice (this morning at 7:30am and now) for our Thanksgiving week ressies and no luck. System down. We have a party of 11 so crucial we have a few meals booked so we can eat together.
