 Hi there i asked this in the families thread but I think i should have asked it here instead so here goes. Hi wonder if you other mums could share your experiences with me. I have a ten and a half year old DD and although I know everyone is different what where your DD average age and "sequence" of puberty onset events. Im thinking armpit hair other hair and menstruation.
At the moment my DD has little wisps of armpit hair a little bit of a figure and nothing else. Thank goodness not really ready for my baby to grow up just yet. can you share your experiences. Also would you bring the "wisps" to her attention / start thinking about hair removal..... Im not fussed but Id hate someone else to point it out to her in a negative way. What do you recommend for young girls in the way of hair removal and first periods( do you Usa folks call it periods/ menstruation?)
We ve done the chats about puberty and shared some good books (recommended from here). she was interested but hasnt asked any questions really....too busy playing and being 10 which is how I like it
Any help advice experiences welcome

My daughters are 7 and 6, and they have not gotten to puberty yet, but we have talked about it. We bought a book from the people who produce the American Girl dolls popular in the use called 'The Care and Keeping of You." If is a wonderful book, and really answers a lot of puberty questions, in a way a young girl can understand.

Do they teach about this in your schools? Around 5th grade here, the school usually does a program that introduces the girls to the changes that are going to happen with their bodies. But it seems many girls need this information even before that time!

Good luck to you.

The Children's Hospital in Seattle holds mother-daughter classes to answer all of your questions in a non-threatening, sometimes drop dead funny way. I think most Children's Hospitals in the US hold these classes. I'm so glad I took my DD. I think they girls have to be 11-13 for the class? Very comfortable, not embarassing, etc. :cool1:
