Ok, I give up. What is the secret? This stuff comes up so frail and fine. How do I grow it? I planted a 10" pot half with oregano and half with basil seeds. The basil is doing great. The oregano isn't.

Help!

Welcome, Ted and Holly! :flower3:

I've only grown herbs from small plants, not from seed, so I can't help you there. I do know though, that oregano prefers a drier soil than basil. Perhaps they aren't really compatible as container mates? It sounds as if your basil will soon take over, so why not transplant the oregano to another pot, or start over with a small oregano plant. Just an idea! :)

Any other suggestions/ideas for Ted? :)

You know what? I think you nailed it with the dry soil. You see, the pot is right next to my computer. I think I over watered it. The oregano got to about 2", which is really good for me. I watered it, now it is dead.

I am going to try again though. This time, I'll try to neglect it more. Or rather, not coddle it. :)

I do OK with basil, but that is it. Not much survives when it comes to herbs. When I am not looking "someone" eats all the seedlings.

Thanks,
Ted
